Food Lion — Local services in Carolina Shores

I have been going to a different location for a few years now but recently moved to Calabash so I have been coming here more often. However I haven't been very happy with the personalities of some of the cashier. There a few nice ones but there are several that seem to not understand the meaning of customer service. Today was my worst experience by far. I would have to say my worst experience with any other cashier or customer service agent in my life. I walked out of the store in tears with my 1 year old in my arms minus the $150 worth of groceries for the week. This young cashier told a man behind me to come in front of me without asking me if it was okay. Mind you I had just let someone else go in front of me because he only had 1 item and this was the only cashier open at 8am. As she starting ringing the other man's order up I told her she didn't have the right to do that she should have asked me first. She was rude and said well she needed help bagging my items anyway so she was waiting for someone else. Which is a ridiculous reason my order wasn't even that big and I prefer to bag my stuff or help the cashier anyway. Needless to say I requested the manager come over. The manager was very nice and offered to ring up my items herself which I declined because I was very upset and near tears so I just wanted to leave. It was not the way I planned to start my day and until this location trains their employees better or hires nicer people I will not return to this location...

If it wasn't for it's location and lower prices, I'd be shopping elsewhere. On several occasions I've waited in a long line (two cashiers on a Sunday and the store was packed). I'm used to the staff of a business at least try to make light of the understaffed situation and treat their customers with a smile and a cheerful attitude. That's not what you'll get at this location. On another occasion, there were long lines and several employees standing up at the registers holding non-business related discussions with the working cashiers...either get in and help, or leave those who are working alone so they can do their job.

Luckily, this isn't the norm for Food Lion. I have found the other Food Lion off of Hwy 179 and Sunset Blvd in Sunset Beach is well managed and busy because it's an enjoyable...

Absolutely terrible service. I won't come back, save your time money go up the road. I say here for about 20 minutes watching employees chit chat and walk around waiting on my drive-up order. I was prompted in the app no one was available. I walk in to a group of employees standing around doing nothing. Walked past a glass where more employees just hanging out -- I go to customer service. No one's there of course. I wait.. finally someone comes up - they know nothing about my order - she asks the group, they've lost it 🤷🏻‍♀️ they go hunt it. Finally I have groceries, but I only part of my order and somehow I feel like the bad guy 🤷🏻‍♀️ Never again. I'm a busy woman, I usually tip the shopper and the person who brings it out. They don't appreciate your customer loyalty...
