Every year I visit Wm. Bos Greenhouse & Farms for all my plants for the season. They have a dynamic selection of plants and flowers. I especially love their tropicals they have shipped in from Florida. They have gorgeous banana plants that get to be at least 4 ft tall but look 6 feet tall once they are planted in the beautiful pots that I purchase from them. Wm. Bos Greenhouse & Farms also has Palms brought in that are fabulous because they are very hardy and you don’t need to constantly water them the way you do the banana plants. They have a great deal of other exotics but this year those plus the red ones in the photos for a splash of color is what I went with. I’ve included a picture of my big daddy hosta I purchased 3 years ago from Bos Greenhouse just to show how big it has gotten and for some reason, the deer don’t touch that one. It has a unique blue green color to it, and I wonder if the taste is different so they don’t touch it. Either way, I’m happy about it! As a trick for my regular hostas, I put the larger palms right next to them, and this seems to frighten the deer and they have quit eating them! Finally a solution! I look forward to going to Bos Greenhouse & Farms every year to work with their friendly staff such as the owner Bill and the manager Veronica. Everyone there will help you find what you are looking for and help you load up your vehicle when you are done. I usually have to make three trips in the spring I end up purchasing so many of their beautiful plants! Don’t forget to visit them during their other seasons for their pumpkins, fresh produce, and local honey! Absolutely...
Read moreI think it was once a great farm, but it's bad business to have employees pulling stickers off of the onions that were purchased in bulk to put out on his tables as his own. They falsely lead people into believing that they sell only fresh produce. The potatoes where purchased in bulk as well. Very little other than the corn, tomatoes and cabbage is actually grown by the farm. He's down to buying what he can from other farmers and then buying bulk on the rest. Also after hours, many items are stored in a moldy fridge in the back which is right next to where they hang dead deer in the off season. Going back and forth between a cooler and room temp causes things to lose their nutritional value and kills the texture. As a former employee, I had many complaints about how bad the peaches were after sitting in crates in the fridge for weeks at a time. The apples also sit in shipping crates in the fridge for just as long. For all of this in mind... I encourage people to ask questions about where the food he sells is from. He charges as much as Harvest Health Foods or Family Fare does for their organic produce. There is no actual cost analysis. Bill Bos merely looks at an item and tells his employees to price it as he feels...
Read moreHuge selection of succulents which is my kryptonite. 125 different varieties. They have planters done up as well that are dedicated to succulents. Their perennials and annuals are varied as well and beautiful this year. I love the pricing system (pot color + check key = price. Very clearly marked. Their farmers market also has an eclectic variety of deliciousness. Im impressed with their staff and they seem to work together like a family. Full disclosure, my son was hired here last year. He learned a tremendous amount, worked hard, and had a lot of fun. Huge shout out to Bill and Veronica for their example and willingness to not only teach but to work around school and...
