An awesome free fair.
Free means no entrance fee. But you will have to pay for food, parking, rides, pony rides, etc. If you're like me and just enjoy animals, you could almost come here and not spend any money... lol We were able to find street parking close by. We had a little walk to the fair, but I'm good for walking. All the animals were up close and personal, and so much more accessible than at the state fair. There were tons of food vendors and all the food you want at a county fair.
We ended up eating at the clover cafe, because it was air conditioned and indoors, but the food there was meh. But cheap! $5.75 for a 1/3 lb cheeseburger! But it wasn't very well seasoned, and the "fried onions" on it definitely needed a little more cooking done to merit the "fried" part. Hot dog was only $4, and it was similar to the Costco hot dog. So would I eat here again? No, I'll spend the $14 to get a burger from a vendor just across the street in the fair, unless I'm with older friends who need air conditioning.
For $3, you can get a cup of animal feed to pet some goats and llama and lambs, etc. For $10, there is a camel ride, but it will only take you twice around a small area (it's over in under 5 minutes). Pony rides for kids merry-go-round style also available.
I had fun just watching other people enjoying the rides, while rubbing pig noses and feeding baby goats. We came in the morning, but wish I had stayed for the evening shows and music. Definitely planning...
Read moreTouted as one of the only free to get in county fairs left in the state I guess you get what you pay for, or not in this case. First off over the past several years new buildings have been added and others updated, nicely done. All of the livestock barns were clean and orderly and easy to get around in. All of the 4H projects were nicely displayed in one of the older structures. We wandered thru the midway which was of course full of kids enjoying all the various games and rides. I don't know the cost of the rides/games, but tickets needed to be purchased from the little booth to partake in those activities. The night we went there were demo derbies, tickets needed to view those were also sold there. Plenty of fair food available for every taste and the 4H also was selling brats n burgers and the like for reasonable prices. A section of rides for the little kids was on the opposite end of the midway. We paid 5 dollars to park by the community pool which left us only a block to walk to get in, money well spent. All in all for a no admission fee fair I saw nothing to complain about. Great job...
Read moreThis fairgrounds does have a lot to offer even though it is a smaller grounds. My only downfall is due to the set up they have it can be a pain to get where you need to go and not very convenient. It’s one long stretch from the entrance by the stands to over where they have the food, and if there’s a good band playing or it’s later in the evening it’s terrible to get past the stage with a huge crowd around it (the stage is in-between the rides and food). They have absolutely amazing demolition derby’s and staff to work it as well! I highly recommend watching the demos, they all put a ton of work into these cars to be able to have fun and...
