Title: "Anvil Pub & Grill - Where History Meets Taste"

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Dining at Anvil Pub & Grill was an experience that transcended the typical notion of dining out. Nestled within the heart of Cedarburg, Wisconsin, this restaurant serves up not just amazing food, but also a slice of local history.

As we stepped inside, we were immediately struck by the unique atmosphere that seemed to transport us back in time. The interior is rustic yet refined, honoring the building's roots as an old metal foundry. Bare brick walls, high wooden ceilings, and historical artifacts lent an authentic charm, making the experience feel like a journey into the past.

Our server was a blend of professionalism and warmth, giving us a sense of homeliness that heightened our anticipation for the meal. The excellent staff was well-informed about the menu, offering insightful recommendations that ensured our orders were to our satisfaction.

I opted for the Forge Steak Sandwich, a succulent, juicy treat served on a rustic bun that was clearly freshly baked. The steak was cooked to perfection, tender and flavorful, and every bite was an explosion of savory delight. The accompanying garlic smashed potatoes were an absolute revelation. They were beautifully seasoned and creamy, demonstrating the kitchen's capability to turn a simple side into something quite exceptional.

My companion decided on the Loaded Grilled Cheese, an elevated take on the classic comfort food. Stuffed with a decadent blend of melted cheeses and other delicious fillings, it was an indulgent treat that was thoroughly enjoyed. It was clear that attention to detail was paid to even the simplest of dishes, further showcasing the culinary prowess of Anvil Pub & Grill.

To say we were impressed would be an understatement. Anvil Pub & Grill has managed to carve a unique niche for itself, blending a unique historic setting with a menu that delights and surprises. If you find yourself in Cedarburg, make a point to visit this cozy little gem - it's a trip into Wisconsin's past with a delectable twist. We left with our bellies full and our hearts content, promising to return for another culinary journey soon.

We highly recommend Anvil Pub & Grill - come for the history, stay for the excellent food and service. This is an experience that you do not...

We had a terrible experience tonight. The front entrance has a aluminum style sunroom with a rickety storm door and the glass/plastic was extremely dirty and really brought the class of the place way down first thing. After that long waiting for a table and the expensive prices, we expected much better food, service, and class. Food portions were quite small and the food was pretty tasteless. The bacon wrapped chicken I ordered was burnt and the "stuffing" was barely present. The pasta she had was severely overcooked and the sauce tasted terrible. We waited almost 10 minutes for someone to come ask us about drinks. We also waited for almost 30 minutes after getting drinks to order our appetizers and food. I did not appreciate the server crossing his arms and standing military style the few times he visited our table. It made us feel like we weren't welcome. Luckily he did get our orders right despite not writing anything down, so I commend him for that. I also had an empty soda and water for more than half of our visit despite being right next to the bar in full view of any server. I felt like the plastic ranch cups for salads did not fit in with what I expected. At the next table, we overheard a different server ask if one customer enjoyed her soup when she didn't finish it. She told him they ate a large lunch but immediately after the server left, she said it was not that good to her friends. That server then came over to us and took our plates. Never once were we asked by him or our own server how our food was so we had no opportunity to comment on it. When we finally got the check, I had to walk it up to the bar to pay it because again we were waiting over 10 minutes, made even worse by the fact our drinks were empty. In summary, we walked in with high expectations made even higher by the long wait and high prices. I was thinking it would be a great high class restaurant. We left extremely disappointed in all aspects of our experience. In the 2 hours we spent there, we could have gotten way better food and service at a bar down the street for less than...

We drove up to Cedarburg from Rockford Illinois to visit Cedar Creek Winery. When walking up to the winery visitors walk past Anvil Pub & Grille and are greeted with the delicious smells coming from the restaurant! In between tours at the winery we decided to have dinner at Anvil and set up a reservation. Unfortunately all that was available was inside, their outdoor patio is beautiful and right off the waterfall! Little did we know it was Homecoming that day so the restaurant was booked up! The restaurant is situated in the old blacksmith building and still has many original features that are just beautiful!

My fiance ordered the Anvil burger and I indulged in the Steak Kabobs. We were sitting right by the kitchen so it was pretty loud but we could still hear each other without raising our voices. I was facing the kitchen and watched the staff work. Their team was led by Josh who was an incredible expeditor. He was nice yet stern with his team and cared about the food that came out of his kitchen. My fiance ate his food, although said his burger could've cooked a little longer for his liking however was still very tasty. My steak was TO DIE FOR delicious! It was a good serving size to not stuff me, but appropriately fill my stomach. The steak was cooked and seasoned perfectly with red onion and cheese curds accompanying the steak on the skewer. Then it was placed on the best mushroom couscous I've ever had! I ate the whole dish. On our way out Josh said thank you for coming and I complimented his work! Hopefully it gave him some motivation to get him through the busy evening they had as all of the homecoming kids started lining up to get in. The Anvil and Cedar Creek Winery are truly a must to go visit! If visitors are only planning on the winery, seriously book a reservation for the Anvil while you're there! You...

Situated in an old blacksmiths building, the restaurant has a cozy ambience. Attentive service and good spacing of dishes. Started with the Brussel sprout and bruschetta appetizers. The brussels sprouts were crunchy without being bitter. Came with a garlic dip, pleasant taste not overly garlicky. The bruschetta consisted of small toasted and Finely sliced French bread with a smear of soft cheese. And of course 🍅 with onion and salt and pepper. Enjoyed the brussels sprouts and would order again. the bruschetta was adequate but would not order again. Entrées came with a choice of soup or salad. Chose the salad which was your standard mix greens tomatoes cucumbers onions served on really small square plates. Entrees were macaroni and cheese Served in a skillet And the special of the day bourbon honey glazed ribeye steak with roasted potatoes and roasted sliced zucchini. Two specials were ordered. One steak ordered medium rare came out at the perfect temperature, Well seasoned and tender. Second steak came out without the bourbon sauce and undercooked. Steak was redone correctly and taken off the tab. Roasted potatoes were soft was a nice brown crust. Zucchini could’ve been cooked a little longer But I like a very soft and roasted vegetable. The other entrée was there a regular ribeye steak ordered medium rare and cooked at the right temperature. the only difference from the special were the smashed roasted red potatoes. Finally, desserts of chocolate chip cheesecake, molten chocolate cake and a strawberry chocolate marble cake. All very tasty and hit the spot for the chocolate cravings. Good to know you can have a tasty quality rib eye and not have to travel downtown.
