My husband and I love flea markets and antique shops, so when we moved to town we were told we had to check out Jen’s. What a let down!
We got there right at opening. Yes, the shop is very large but it is dirty and dingy. There was one booth that didn’t have a functioning light bulb, and another that had a half eaten cake pop from Christmas time sitting on merchandise. I know it’s from Christmas because it was decorated with red and green and looked nasty and dried out. I know that they rent the booths out, but you would think that they (the owners/workers) would check the booths at the opening or closing of each day to make sure things were organized, clean, etc. It’s not very welcoming as a customer in an establishment to find half eaten food and dark corners in the store.
While we were there, a woman associated with the business (not sure if it was the owner or a worker) had their child there with them. While I’m all for family run businesses and don’t have an issue with the presence of the kids, the woman asked the child, who was maybe 6 years of age, to grab her something. The child accidentally grabbed the wrong thing and the woman screamed at the child for not getting what she wanted, all while sitting in a massage chair that appeared to be for sale. Yes, you can sit on furniture to test it out before buying it but as an employee you should not be sitting on merchandise, let alone creating a scene in the store.
Lastly, the fact that she does business in “cash only” is a...
Read moreI rented a booth for six months here and it was nothing but a mistake from the beginning. I was charged a full months rent even though I took over the booth half-way through the month. I was told the booth was "ready", and it was a mess. The employees are unfriendly, have never been one bit of help and don't help you promote your booth one bit. When I made a video of my booth to post on the website, I was told it was approved, but then it never posted. When I told the management that I planned on vacating my booth and asked them for an estimate of my sales (the booth is two hours from my home and I have been off work for two months due to an injury and can't afford the rent any longer) the owner told me she would check, and never bothered to get back with me when she knew how far we had to drive. Booth rent was $130/month, and just expected a little more accountability. Everything at Jen's is all cash, whether it is booth rent or sales, which means you can't mail in a check or pay on-line making it very difficult to maintain a booth long-distance. I am grateful that I was able to pay booth fees late during my injury, but that was the only help I ever got, and communication doesn't exist and you are on your own. It's all about the money, or I should say...
Read moreBought a gorgeous dry sink for a total of $67, as well as some beautiful brown Pyrex and some beautiful 70s wall decor. Overall the experience was very pleasant, the owners were super nice, and the prices were very budget friendly in my opinion. Definitely plan to be back as there were lots of items of interest. Store appeared to be CASH ONLY, however, so be sure to bring...
