I have bought a few pieces of jewelry from Champaign Jewelers (CJ) for my wife in the past and their service has always been amazing and pricing was always fair. So for my 15 year wedding anniversary, I wanted to do something special for my wife. I spoke with Kari and Andrea and they immediately came up with an idea create custom earrings that matches my wife's uniquely designed wedding band I purchased 16 years ago. Andrea went to work drawing up options to capture what made me fall in love with that ring so long ago and sent them over for my review. I was amazed and how great the renderings looked and how detailed in explaining the process of creating custom jewelry Andrea and Kari were. So I decided to pull the trigger and have these created. Kari reached out to me and suggested that I have her look for matching diamonds for the earrings on their trip to Antwerp, Belgium. She said it would allow her a great opportunity to get the exact diamonds for the earrings and would also add to the story behind the earrings. I agreed and I was extremely happy with my decision. Finding natural stones that match so closely is a very hard task and Kari nailed it. I got a chance to see the diamonds loose that she found and it was hard for me to see the slight differences. She explained she looked at over 60 diamonds to find these two and she knocked it out of the park. With the diamonds selected, Kari and Andrea got to work executing the final plan of creating the earrings. This was made even harder for them as I shortened the time frame when I was going to give them to my wife as the pandemic made us change our celebration plans from September to June. And to make their lives harder, the pandemic limited their time and presented new challenges of interacting with their customers. But in CJs true fashion, the reassured me that they are working on it and they could deliver on the significantly reduced time frame. When Kari called me that they were finished, I excitedly went to their store to see the finished product. I was beside myself on how closely the design and finished product captured my wife's ring. It was like they were made by the same designer at the same time. And the diamonds Kari found looked amazing. Crazy amount of sparkle and fire they produced was going to make them pop on my wife's ears. I surprised my wife and she immediately commented on how they look like they look like her ring. This allowed me a nice segway of telling her how they were created, her diamonds were hand selected in Antwerp, and it was custom designed to match her ring perfectly. It is hard to describe how excited and emotional she was on getting these earrings, but she was honestly speechless and overwhelmed with how they looked and the thought that went into them. I wanted to write this review to say how Champaign Jewelers turned a jewelry gift purchase into a heartfelt, meaningful experience for me and my wife. I had looked for an engagement ring for over 4 months and I have had some pretty bad experiences with other stores. I was only shopping online because previous visits to other stores had me experiencing pushy sales staff that; steered me to rings I did not want but were more expensive. called me at all hours of the day asking when I would be back to the store to shop. blatantly lying to me about the quality of the diamonds they were showing me. Shopping online was better, but I really wanted to be able to see the diamond that I pick along with how it would sit in the ring. I just could not pull the trigger on purchasing a ring online. I decided to stop by this store on a whim. No recommendations, just a stab in the dark. I must have been the luckiest person that day. Andrea, talked to me and asked questions about my fiancée and what she liked. She then proceeded to methodically work with me to find the perfect ring and diamond. I found the ring immediately. It took about a month to find the perfect diamond, but she was very thorough. I appreciated that she brought out a microscope and let me look at every diamond.
