Food Town — Local services in Channelview

This location needs to train employees on customer service skills. Cashiers on their phones at their registers, some do not acknowledge the customer in line and give dirty looks as they're scanning your items. I had a cashier in another lane make a rude comment about me telling the cashier at my register how many packs of noodles I picked up. I politely told her that if she would like to count them all, be my guest but I was trying to save her some time. The other cashier begins to argue that customers always say they have one number & she always count another. Needless to say, she never came over to count out my 20 packs of noodles after attempting to argue with me. Even while wearing business attire and bank card in my hand, I still look like a theft. Opted for Food Town to see if I could save money on groceries, what with current economy/inflation.

This chain is right up there with other grocery stores, but without the fanfare of fancy displays, no delicatessen or bakery. This would lead you to believe it might be cheaper. Sadly, it was not, plus I came away with a new list of things I could not find.

Some aisles had limited variety, others showed a mass of products I would never buy.

I guess if one gets “spoiled” by shopping at a favorite store, this would definitely be a letdown. This location does, however, serve a smaller community who, for some reason, has chosen not to let the larger grocery chains build there, which does serve them...

Today was not as good as most. There was no one sanitizing the baskets this evening like usual. While the register line number was still lite, I was in line behind another man for over 5 minutes and when I began placing my items on the counter, the cashier tells me he is closed. I stated to him that I had been in this line for over 5 minutes. I did not just walk up to the lane and he never said "excuse me, Miss I am closing after him." I stated my case, and he decided to check me out. I did thank him.
