As a former associate I can tell you IN MY OPINION this probably the worst food lion to shop. Most of the associates are the best people you can find anywhere. But the store manager Dre the assistant manager Sabrina and the grocery manager Jason are 3 of the worst people around. I have personally seen them mock customers with disabilities who have filed complaints, such as they lady they refer to as Miss Wiggles. They have zero respect for other associates either. If you haven't worked with them before ,aren't their friends or the manager isn't sleeping with your sister they have no use for you. Food lion in general is trying to circumvent the nc mask mandate. I was personally told by management that "we aren't the mask police" therfore the mask mandate isn't enforced even though we cater to high risk customers such as those at the local retirement community Carolina Meadows. At the beginning of the pandemic we were given face shields that state on the outside of the package that they WILL NOT protect you from an infectious disease. This store has received numerous complaints which they promptly ignore. All they care about is profits. When other companies were closing early for cleaning purposes Food lion decided to maintain its normal hours "to capitalize on the customers" who couldn't make it to the places that closed early. Customers receive the best service from the excellent associates like Jordan, Bogdona, Lisa, Terry, Raquel, Tina, Shelby and several others but I've seen first hand how merchandise is shipped from the whatehouses and handled at that store by certain other people. I WOULDN'T recommend this store to my worst enemy let alone someone...
Read moreI used to love Food Lion and I would be a regular shopper but this specific one has kind of ruined the experience for me. I used to shop here as it was near where I work and live so it was convenient, but lately it has been more of a hassle than anything. This store is selling things that are way beyond their sell by/best by date and selling them at full price, produce is usually rotten in store. Even items that are not past their best by date are not good nor safe to eat. I purchased a pack of deli meat after checking the dates (I learned to do that after getting yogurt that was 15 days past sell by date) and once I got home and opened it up a couple days later the thing had the most horrible smell, not at all what deli meat should smell like. I could not return it of course but the same goes for coffee half and half. Get it home, use it for a bit and then a few days later, it is spoiled. I don't know if they are not properly storing foods, or if I just got unlucky, but that is the last straw for me. Food safety is a concern for me and it does not appear this Food Lion follows up with proper food safety standards, so I am taking my business elsewhere. Even though I have to drive a bit further out at least I can shop with ease knowing that proper procedures are followed, produce is fresh and I don't end up with past sell by dated items that I paid full price for. Also the prices are far more reasonable than...
Read moreI used to like shopping at Food Lion (near Gov Club in Chapel Hill, NC); they have one of the best produce sections of all area grocery stores. Prices are good; often less than area competitors. My rating has to do with the current safety policies with regard to COVID 19. I was troubled by the fact that store employees were not all wearing masks, especially the employee in the produce area. When I was last there, cashiers had masks, but some did not have them covering their faces and in fact 3 women at the register where I was checking out were sharing food, and then bagging my groceries. As someone in a higher risk category, this is extremely disconcerting. The cavalier attitude makes me disinclined to shop there any more. Mask-wearing is one of the best strategies we have to defeat this thing. If 80% of people wear masks in public, we would halt the spread. Wearing masks is not primarily about protecting yourself, but about stopping transmission from infectious people; especially from those who may be asymptomatic. Mask wearing is a community...
