I’d give zero stars if I could. I tried returning slimy and gooey mozzarella bag of cheese my husband had just bought. It smelled rancid and looked disgusting. I was extremely polite. The owner screamed in my face and refused to give me a refund because “I don’t make the cheese here that’s not my fault” and “Kroger wouldn’t refund you” (yes they would). She brought an employee out to watch and listen to me be screamed at and degraded. I told her again I wanted my money back because the cheese was spoiled and inedible or I’d be filing a formal complaint. I sometimes stop at this deli when I'm visiting Charleston. 3 or 4 times total, now. Today was the most recent stop. I finally met the short (Italian?) woman that has been mentioned several times here. Yes, she initially comes across as rude and difficult to understand. She mentioned she didn't have the bread we were looking for because it was Sunday in an off-putting tone. I agree that customer service makes a business and there's no excuse for it. However, even though I considered just leaving, I decided to get some New Year's champagne. She was very sweet to my daughter and even gave her a free brownie. Went into this shop with my partner one day and encountered the rude woman mentioned in many other reviews. She loudly interrogated us on what we were there for the moment we walked in, and watched our every move the entire time we were in the store as if she thought we were going to steal. We had just come in to look at the carryout meals and ended up leaving without buying anything because she was making me uncomfortable.

I also noticed that they were selling Kroger Private Selection and Wal-Mart Great Value brand items at inflated prices, which seems shady to me. Not really sure how this...
