09/06/25: We had a nice birthday dinner for two here this date, a Saturday night. This restaurant is Top Flight times three.... Top flight food. Top flight service. Top flight atmoshere and ambiance. We must start with the excellent service along with honest recommendations. I wish I could remember her name, but our waitress was the blond haired girl that is head of the wait staff and does training. She was so spot-on and friendly during the entire night and there was not even a hint of snootiness that one encounters in an upscale restaurant sometimes from the wait staff. Not here! Kudos to her and the choice of employees. Next, the food was so superbly made. My wife throughly enjoyed the fillet mignon, perfectly seasoned and done exactly as requested. It was served with mixed vegetables and fresh mashed. I had the lobster Mac 'n Cheese along with succulent sea scallops and tender flat iron steak accompanied with baked Brussel sprouts. One could tell that all the food was prepared by either James Beard Award Winner, Chef Paulie or a culinary trained chef. BTW: Chef Paulie trains in the culinary arts. One couldn't ask for anything to be better made! My wife was treated to a birthday desert. Did I mention a super well made Tanguery dirty Martini prior to enjoying the dinner? Even that was made to perfection. The atmosphere is comfortable and conversation was easy. Note: Fridays are very busy and may be louder inside. I highly recommend this restaurant if you're looking for one that is a step up from the rest. Chef Paulies' 1010 is the local winner! If you haven't tried it, you must go here! If you're just in town for a short visit, this is the...
Read moreMy wife wanted to have her birthday dinner here. This was our first time here and, I'll be honest, I was prepared to be disappointed. 1010 Bridge gets a lot of hype locally and online and, while I didn't expect it to be bad, I didn't expect it to live up to the hype. I was wrong.
We started with the pork belly. When it was placed on the table, my first reaction was, this isn't worth the price. Again, I was wrong. One bite and I told my wife I would pay twice the price for it.
I got the salmon and my wife got the special which was a sirloin dish. The salmon was very good but those potatoes it comes with are delicious. I would be happy with just a plate of those. I'm not much of a red meat eater but I thought the sirloin was a little bland but my wife liked it so it must just be my palate.
My chocolate tart was a little rich for me but good. We always split everything 50\50 so it was finished. The only slightly disappointing fish was the creme brulee. We both love creme brulee and, while not bad by any means, this one was a little flavorless and not as creamy as I would expect - a texture closer to flan, I think. The bruleed sugar layer was too thick as well. It was more like chewing toffee and missing that crunch that makes creme brulee so fun. Still, they have it to her for free since it's her birthday. Free makes everything taste better!
Really, these are minor issues. There's always room to improve, even when everything is good
Service was also great and friendly. I'm not a fan of the dining area being so close to the bar but it's a small space so I guess it's necessary. I can't...
Read moreI have come to know and love this place, dearly. The food is fantastic. I come here frequently and I've yet to try a bad dish. Everything is delicious and cooked perfectly. All the flavors pop and captivate the eater. They offer daily/weekly specials, depending on how long they last, that are always unique and special. It's worth every penny. The food isn't the only thing that brings me back here. It's the employees. They are honestly some of the best in the business. I'm not sure how they found the perfect people to work there, but they have. Just to name a few... Meagan is a hostess, and she is always so welcoming and accommodating. She's the first impression of this restaurant and they picked the right person to do it! She remembers everyone by name and even brings out a few laughs. Derek is the bar manager, and he is damn good at his job. I'll even go as far as to say he's the best bartender in WV. This guy knows everyone, their names, and their past conversations. He makes the best drinks and conversation. BB (not sure if I'm spelling everyone's name correctly, sorry if not) is a waiter there at 1010. He makes us laugh and offers great conversation. He has such a nice, calming voice and a laugh that lights up a room! We always enjoy seeing him when we are there. Josiah is also a waiter there. He is always kind and has great recommendations on both food and drinks. We always have a good time talking and laughing. Both of the owners are such nice people, and they make the best food. They have really created a gem there on Bridge Road. It's hard to stay away from a...
