Good projection and sound systems, a bit stuck in the 1980s vibe, exorbitant snack prices, no discount values such as tightwad Tuesday like their many competitors do offer.
I found this movie theater to be relatively clean and a bit fun, cheeky and clearly geared toward a youthful audience given that they have an arcade and birthday party center in the lobby. With ample parking and easy access, the movie theater you stationed on one side of an old 1970s Mall they just now defunct but very well taken care of in spite of it being old, charming actually.
Movie prices we're around the $8 to $9 per ticket price, and they offered no discounts except about a dollar or so off before 5pm as I recall. many of their competitors if not all of them, offer discounts such as bargain night, tightwad Tuesday $5 movies and so on. this company not offering any type of discount is really a shame and it shows that they do not value their customers who are primarily families and college students that take advantage of those nights as well as senior discounts that should be found at all times.
The seating gave ample room for your knees and the seats were not necessarily reclining but they rock slightly forward and back. No matter where you sit on the seat it seems to want to tip you forward. Kudos to them for having good quality, bright film projection systems as well as quality sound systems, rounding out your movie experience. I found the place to be very clean and tidy and all of the seats to be in good condition, no major squeaks or bolts popping up out of the floor when you sit down in your chair. There arcade was well-organized where you can have a party, a nice touch for a group of friends and family.
they do have self serve kiosks in the lobby which is a nice modern touch so you can purchase your ticket ahead of time should the lines get long, you can bypass the line and simply present your ticket at a later time. I found the prices for their concessions to be truthfully, quite outrageous and though you expect that to some degree this place reallyshould be giving themselves an award for the most ridiculously priced hot dog on planet earth.
That aside, they keep all of their lights working, their restrooms clean coming their trash cans emptied and their floors are swept where you're not walking through popcorn and trailing it everywhere. I went to the movies twice while there in the town and each time there was only two other people in the entire building with me....
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis is an edit from my prior review that had been positive. This place has went downhill faster than an Olympic bobsled. My bad luck here started in May, seeing wonder woman in 3-d, the movie was so out of focus it couldn't be seen til someone in the theater went and told staff. I let that go and didn't change my review since one mishap fan be forgiven.
Fast forward to this last Thursday, I went to go watch justice league. My girlfriend and I arrived early to be able to see the previews. Well, before the previews start is the screen about putting away cell phones. Well, it froze at that screen, but yet played audio for the previews. I went and advised staff and went back to my seat figuring it would be fixed promptly. Well then the screen went black, and the movie audio played, but nothing but blackness on the screen, which took another trip to tell staff, and another couple in the theater walking out. Which since I've had 2 issues of the movie not starting up properly in the 2 most recent times I've went, it makes me think this has to be more regular than would be hoped.
While standing in line at the side of the counter to tell staff of the issues, I was behind others from other movies who were told the wrong theater to go to for each movie. One would think this could be mitigated by having something outside of each theater saying what movie is in which one, but this place doesn't seem to think that this is needed.
It's a shame that this place seems to have these issues since as far as ticket prices, this is cheaper than the theaters in Olympia and Lacey, and on opening nights you're more likely to get seats, but this quality makes going up...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWent and saw a good movie, Violent Night, action and seasonal. Only problem is our local theater. The place has gone down so bad. No one really managing it well, dirty, torn up seats. A dozen teens running amouk the entire time of the movie, jumping around, howling, and literally running up and down the stairs, on their phones, talking, laughing. Made it hard to watch as they ran in front of you every 10-15 minutes because they were movie jumping between different shows. Was at least 9 boys and 4 girls. The mother or grandmother couldn't care less and talked loudly the whole time. It's gotten to the point that I don't think we will be going back to Midway Cinema in Chehalis. I would much rather drive north for a better managed theater that is clean, in good condition, is staffed appropriately, and doesn't let the teens run around yelling and acting like strung out toddlers. Sad what society and parents think is acceptable young adult behavior. If I caught my kids acting like a jackass out in public, they would certainly lose their cell phones, be grounded for quite some time, and when not grounded they would be doing community service for those in need for their...
