I have played tennis since my early teens. I began private lessons with Rick and tennis camp during the summer and loved it! I continued to play varsity tennis during my years in high school. My husband also took lessons at the club with Pete (way back when!) and played doubles in high school. He earned the number one title in their division for NJ.
I am now older with two children and thought to get back into tennis since it can be a lifelong sport with family and friends. I joined my friend in a group lesson with Rick over 20 years later - crazy right?! It was fun but our schedules didnāt line up. My friend mentioned a coach Ed and attested to his ability to teach and motivate - to make me a better player. I knew I wanted to play for fun but was also competitive. I wanted to prove I still had it and maybe someday be able to play against my hubby and have a chance at winning! I started lessons with Ed over a year ago and can not believe how much I have learned and improved! He has worked with me on my foot placement(my left foot always in my way!), my unit turn, following through, telling me over and over again the same things with patience. Ed has a keen understanding of all the inner workings of tennis and is passionate in teaching it to others. I am always excited to try to learn more from him and see my improvements. I look forward to my two to three lessons a week with him and couldnāt ask for a better coach.
Ed has also coached my two kiddos -10yr old son and 7yr old daughter -he has been kind, motivating and still informative with them in a way that makes sense at their level. They get excited and never want to switch with each other when their time is up!
I didnāt know grown adult(s) would need to hear this (preach it to my kids) but , to anyone that has something to say about the club or the coaches , āif you have nothing nice to say donāt say anything at all.ā Worry about you and why you feel so negative in life. I can promise you a placement of a drill is not worth taking the time out of a day to attack someoneās opinion - a coaches opinion.
Have some integrity, stop blaming others and own up to who you are and how you act. There are way bigger problems in life and a taking time to say something negative about anyone speaks loudly of what type of person you are.
Thanks CHHRC!! I appreciate my happy welcomes when entering the club by first name, acknowledgement of my kids and who they are, even outside of the club! I look forward to all of my time learning and improving with Edās help!! If you want to start, even as a beginner ask to have Ed as your coach - see...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe Cherry Hill Health & Racquet Club has many well-maintained tennis courts and offers adult tennis drills / clinics at several different times per skill level (except for beginners ā there is just one on Wednesday evenings).
Since it is hard to make it to the beginning adult tennis drills on Wednesday evenings for those who work late, it would be nice if it was offered on at least one other time (maybe during the weekends) ā I wanted to get a sense of where my skill level is at currently since itās been a while since Iāve played tennis regularly.
Speaking of which, the receptionist on the phone (who answered after so many times of trying to call) said that I could talk to Rick and schedule a time for an assessment to see if I would be better off starting in the beginning level or the intermediate, so he kindly transferred me to Rickās line. Since Rick didnāt answer, I left a voicemail; however, he has yet to call me back ā I have been waiting for a long month.
Based on my experience, other reviews about the customer service here make sense ā it is not the best here. I donāt remember her name, but the one who gave me the tour and provided information about the tennis membership here seems to be the only one who provides good customer service.
Iād love to get back into playing tennis again, but it seems like I may have to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreUpdated review after reading some comments here.. Literally I donāt understand what people donāt like in this place. And that is sad to see that such reviews get 4-5 helpful marks. Those are absolutely unhelpful and useless reviews.
One guy is screaming in reviews about color discrimination (I guess because he did not get a job) when there is a great afroamerican coach right now training kids, and they get better every month with him, he is the best coach this place had so far. My sister is improving every day now since they got those coaches.
Others complain about front desk.. and that is bs in my opinion. I know people who work there for 4 years. But Iām sure some members are there for more than 10.. awesome ladies always kind and friendly. Laura is the best!
my own review: Great place with sauna!!! With tennis, volleyball, pickle ball, basketball, parisi, group lessons and with everything else it needs, never overcrowded, not expensive, good light and no disturbing music, everything is great. My...
