I'm thrilled with my experience at Soccer Post, but I felt like the only competent staff were the female ones. I have wide feet (I wear a 10E or 10.5E), and before driving 30 mins one-way from Philly, I wanted to see if they had cleats in my size to try on. The male staff member who picked up the phone answered my initial questions, and when he offered to check and see, he quickly rolled that back.
When I got to a store, another male staff member pointed me towards the cleats, and gave a few suggestions, then disappeared. It wasn't until Mariah came over and asked me some questions, and then actually started suggesting some ideas. I was initially going to go with some New Balances, but they were very cramped. Mariah suggested some Diadoras, which fit excellently. The manager (whose name I didn't get) was able to help me with customizing the cleats with my initials, which they had to hold overnight, apparently that only happens rarely. The next day, the manager recognized me and handed my cleats directly to me.
Worth coming out here so you can try on cleats and even get a little time on a small turf field connected to the shop, which made me feel a lot more comfortable about...
Read moreUpdate: I am updating this review because, despite being invited back on multiple occasions to rectify this situation, I never did make it back. The manager or owner (I don't recall which now) was very polite and helpful in responding to me both here and social media. While I am still unwilling to pay their prices (Note: I am admittedly quite frugal) and will be more diligent to prepare earlier in the future, I do acknowledge and appreciate that prices are almost always higher in small business, due to their inability to stock very large quantities, as big box stores do and am more than happy to support small business when financially able. I am leaving my original review intact, below, as reference of the situation and because I do stand by my personal experience.
VERY EXPENSIVE! My husband took my 11 year old in to get cleats and was told that they start at $80 for basic, no-frills cleats! That's absurd!
I've been in before and experienced the price hike but, this was FAR worse than what I'd encountered with the very slim-fitting shorts.
Additionally, the owner's ostentatious response to another review below explains a great deal about the lacking...
Read moreHave shopped at Soccer Post for some time. All of the young associates were incredible, they took their time with my son and helped him pick the right gear. Their jersey and cleat selection is amazon. Best of all is the owners though. Recently I put together a team for my son and his friends to play for fun at XL. They were all from different teams so I had to make jerseys. I had a crazy idea to do a Phillies throwback with light blue, maroon and white. She worked with me for a week to find the right quality for the right price and get the best price. She also helped with the design and was able to make multiple color decals work. The jerseys look amazing and we’re a huge hit! I can’t get over how hands on and available she was through the process, will be buying all of my soccer gear here...
