The lowest quality Giant I've ever experienced I felt like taking a shower after I left. I called ahead and asked staff to have my pickup order ready at customer service since I don't drive but of course no such thing happened. Security immediately jumped out once I stepped inside as if I were a threat. Brown while shopping is my most educated guess. One member of the security team stayed a few feet away from me during most of my time there for whatever reason. It's sad how a Black American who is discriminated against in this country will turn around and try to use the same tactics on a brown customer who is not displaying any suspicious behavior. When my order arrived, I discovered that some items had to be substituted or were just non-existant because this particular Giant just does not have a good selection of items. Staff needs subconscious bias training. Will not be visiting this particular Giant ever again. REVISION: I changed my review from two to three stars after speaking to the store manager and receiving an apology for the security guard's behavior. First I shopped at the 3104 Queens Chapel Rd, Hyattsville, MD 20782 location and when it closed in 2013 I started shopping at 5815 Eastern Avenue, Hyattsville MD location. Great customer service is the main reason why.
Today I would like to recognize Kareem, a young man who went out of his way to help me on July 19, 2017. I made a purchase of many items, left the store, drove my mother home with her items and went home. When I arrived I could not have one of my purchases. I went back to the store in and Kareem was kind enough to go out of his way to assist.
I was reminded of how much it meant to have someone to go out of their way to help and appreciative that Kareem cared enough to make a difference in not only my life but I am sure the lives of many others. Read moreStaff member in the seafood station was very rude. He barely wanted to communicate and seemed aggravated as soon a I approached the counter. I ordered crab legs to be steamed. Because we didn’t communicate well he did not have a good understanding of what I needed. What he initially gave me wasn’t enough. So I had to ask him to steam more. While he was steaming them I was looking down at my phone waiting there the whole time. When he was done he set the crab legs on the counter and didn’t make a sound. Once I looked up I noticed them there and wasn’t sure if they were mine or some one else’s order and he had disappeared. He never said a word. So I took them. I understand people have bad days but nobody deserves his bad energy especially after work because you simply don’t want to do your job. I’m not the type to file a complaint but this interaction was so bizarre I wanted to talk to the manager.
