Caribbean Garden — Restaurant in Maryland

Had theee worst experience at this place! I called in at 10:45 to place a pick up order (mind u they close at 12) and there was no answer . So i drove there to make my to go order in store. I got there shortly before 11 at 10:55 to make more order. Ordered brown stew fish and curry shrimp. The lady took my order and told me it would be 25-30 mins since it was seafood. I said fine. Waited in the car, charged my phone, even went across the street to the gas station.. came back at 11:30 and she said the food was still cooking. At about 11:45 i realized it was getting late and i had been there 45-50 mins waiting now. The other lady that was cooking comes out and says “i should charge u extra for having me cook so late” .. after about 12:07 i started getting impatient as i had been there for an hour now smh .. so i get my food at 12:15.. i live literally 3 mins away. I get home to find out that my rice is undercooked n hard ! This was after she said there was nomore rice n peas. Gave me some steamed rice w my order that she just cooked but didn’t wait til it cooked all the way at all! The fish was not good, definitely not hat I’m used to .. the curry shrimp was not good at all either. Can’t even taste the curry.. only thing i enjoyed was my coco bread. Literally threw all three plates away and felt so cheated! That was the worst tasting “Jamaican food” w the worst customer service! I’d recommend maybe trying Pimiento Grill in SE if ur looking for authentic tasting Jamaican food.. i will NOT be returning to this place.. I’d give it zero...

This is my second time ordering from Uber Eats the Caribbean Gardens dinners. Their food isn’t seasoned outstandingly, it’s just okay. If you’re hungry it’ll do but if you really hungry for true Jamaican food you’re out of luck. Nevertheless, during my second order, I ordered oxtails and chicken roti, the oxtail dinner didn’t come with plantains and I just didn’t like the open face, no chickpeas roti. When I called the restaurant for them to hopefully accommodate my wishes to change the order, I was told I’d have to wait for the owner to call me back. An entire two hours went by without her calling me back. I called three times while waiting for the owner to call me back. I spoke with Suzanne who told me there’s nothing she could do and that I was arguing with her. I was in no way shape or form arguing with her. The owner NEVER called me back. I’m diabetic and was hungry and they just had me waiting frivolously for no reason at all. There really should be steps in place to handle various situations whenever the owner is absent. It’s ridiculous that I spent $45.00 on two dinners and I wasn’t pleased at all. They should of written they were sold out of plantains because I would have order something else entirely. When I eat oxtails I have to have plantains. Also, the restaurant not wanting to rectify the situation made me so disappointed. I will never order...

I decided to try a place I've never been to. I love oxtails and rice so I gave Caribbean Garden a try. I got curry chicken and oxtails. Pro's: Friendly order taker named Anthony. He paid attention to detail when making plates by asking if I wanted gravy on my food and making sure not to put oxtail bones on my plate that did not have meat on them. Since it was my first experience there, I asked alot of questions and he was helpful. As other customers came in you could tell they were regulars and friendly as well. Both dishes were cooked well as far as tenderness and moistness and the portion on the small curry chicken was a decent amount.

Cons: I ordered a Large oxtail and it was not a good portion of meat. They are cut tiny so you are not getting as much meat as it looks like. The taste was not as flavorful as I would have liked...a little bland for both the curry and oxtail. The place is set up with a tiny eating area however it doesn't look like many people do so. I ate in to taste the food immediately but the seating area is uninviting. It could be spruced up a bit.

Overall I give Caribbean Gardens 3.8 stars. Mainly because of Anthony and his customer service..that goes a long way. Also I would still eat here again. I ran into the owner on the way out and complimented Anthony to her. Hopefully they read the...
