Unprofessional and Hostile Conduct by Library Manager
On my most recent visit, to the Lamond-Riggs/Lillian J. Huff Neighborhood Library I had an extremely unpleasant and unprofessional encounter with the libraries manager. I am deeply concerned by the poor treatment I received, which is a significant departure from the standard of service I have come to expect. Printing documents has never been a problem before. It is the attitude of the library manager that raises concerns.
I was at the Lamond-Riggs/Lillian J. Huff Library to print documents from my USB drive. I approached the manager for assistance. When I explained that one of the print jobs was for my friend, who shares the same USB drive, her attitude immediately turned hostile. She made contradictory and confusing statements, first offering to help, then claiming that she would not print all of the documents.
When I attempted to clarify the situation, she became increasingly rude and dismissive, repeatedly stating "library policy" without any clear explanation. Her tone was condescending and patronizing, speaking to me as if I was a child. She audaciously suggests, " I can put you on a computer over there and you print the ones you want," despite the fact that I've just used the express computers downstairs and presented her with the express numbers to print.
The Lamond-Riggs/Lillian J. Huff Neighborhood Library manager approach was unwelcoming. As I was leaving, she delivered a sarcastic "have a nice day," which felt insincere and petty, a final jab after a series of unpleasant interactions. This is totally unacceptable.
This behavior was not only unhelpful but also created an incredibly frustrating and demoralizing experience. The manager's conduct was unprofessional and inappropriate for a leader in a public service role. Her attitude directly contradicts the core principles of courtesy and respect that I have always associated with the public library system. This behavior not only impacts patrons but could also set a poor example for other library staff members.
A manager's role is to lead by example and ensure a positive environment, not to treat patrons with disrespect. The Lamond-Riggs/Lillian J. Huff Neighborhood Library Manager interactions were rushed and exhausting due to the Manager's cutting and unhelpful responses. The encounter leaves a bad impression, highlighting a significant and negative change in the Lamond-Riggs/Lillian J. Huff Neighborhood Library atmosphere under the new manager's supervision.
It is disappointing to see such a departure from the high standards of courtesy and professionalism the Lamond-Riggs/Lillian J. Huff Neighborhood Library has always maintained. I hope the library administration addresses the issue to ensure a more welcoming and professional experience for all patrons...

((WAS MY ORIGINAL REVIEW )). BUT ,UNFORTUNATELY THIS PLACE HAS CHANGED DRASTICALLY. THE NEW MANAGER IS (VERY ) HOSTILE……JUST TENSE. SHE BLATANTLY STATED THAT SHE DOES (NOT) CARE ABOUT THE CUSTOMER BASE / COMMUNITY, STAFF OR VOLUNTEERS . SHE BLATANTLY STATED THAT SHE ONLY CARES ABOUT THE LIBRARY “ CATALOG “. THE WORST PART IS HER NEGATIVITY IS CONTAGIOUS & BRINGS DOWN THE MORALE OF THE ONCE HAPPY STAFF. MR . DAVID, PLEASE COME BACK! I HAD/HAVE A GREAT REPUTATION AS A VOLUNTEER & COMMUNITY MEMBER. ALL THE LOCAL /NEIGHBORHOOD KIDS LOVE ME & I HOST THE COMMUNITY YARD SALES. YET CLEMENTINE , THE NEW LIBRARY MANAGER , SEEMED VERY INTO SHAMING ME & TREATING ME LIKE A PROBLEM OR A CRIMINAL ,EVERY TIME I ENTER THE LIBRARY. I ALSO FEEL LIKE SHE TARGETS PEOPLE , AND TREATS CERTAIN GROUPS BETTER THAN OTHERS . I BELIEVE SHE VIEWS WORKING THERE AS A JOB SHE (( DISLIKES)) VERSUS A CENTER FOR THE COMMUNITY & THE HAPPY PLACE IT USED TO BE . MANY PEOPLE COMPLAIN ABOUT CLEMENTINE, THE NEW MANAGER , FROM DAY 1 ,I WAITED FOR ABOUT 2 MONTHS / 60 DAYS TO LET HER ADJUST IN THE COMMUNITY. IT DID NOT WORK, SHE SIMPLY STRUGGLES WITH RESPECTING OTHER PEOPLE EQUALLY ON THE STAFF & IN THE...
