I gave this office two stars for the doctor and assistants. That's all I was satisfied with. The front desk (older) woman was nasty, and so was the glasses lady. They both had poor attitudes, and treated us like we were imposing on their time. They will drag the rest of the office staff, and the reputation of their office down.
I also asked to not have my son's eyes dilated because he had that done recently, and I needed it done more. I was concerned about driving after, but the younger girl at the front insisted we would be fine to drive. We were not. Both of us had seriously blurred vision after, and when I mentioned it, the older woman at the desk told me "We dilate little 5 year olds all the way up to 90 year olds all the time, and they never had trouble." Well, did the 5 year olds have to DRIVE?
On top of all this, their glasses prices were outrageously high. They should just do eye exams, and send you off to an optometrist. If I got the progressive lenses I needed there, I would have paid roughly $475 for them. The glasses will also take 7 WEEKS to THREE MONTHS to get, "because of THE STORM." We will wait for my sons free pair, but I went over to Walmart and was treated like I mattered, and got a beautiful pair of glasses, with the lighter weight progressive lenses for $198, and they'll be ready in a week! I also got my son an extra pair with a 20% discount for $30....
Read moreThe doctor was very thorough and knowledgeable. I went to pick out frames after the eye exam and was told that I could only choose frames from the wall for medicaid patients even though my insurance is private pay. The lady pointed at the wall and walked away leaving me no chance to ask questions or explain that I could purchase other frames. I chose the best of the lot which wasn't much, she had me sit at a table to measure for my bifocals, handed them back to me and when I went to pay I was told there was no charge because I was a medicaid patient. I explained that I WAS NOT medicaid and I didn't want to be charged with medicaid fraud. They did some checking then came back with a print out of my insurance coverage. I do hope that medicaid patients aren't dismissed as I was and they receive better service. It was an eye opening experience for me on how people on medicaid ( which i was not)are treated as "less than." In the future I will probably find another eye center. *Edit * Since posting this review, I have received calls from the eye center in Chipley and Panama City apologizing for my visit. I went back, picked out a new pair of glasses and had a pleasant talk with the lady who I originally had an issue with. She apologized profusely, explained she was really busy that day, and said she never meant to make me...
Read moreI recently had an outstanding experience at the Eye Center of North Florida in Chipley, FL. From the moment I walked in, the staff, including the receptionist and eye tech, were incredibly friendly and professional. Dr. MacDonald exceeded my expectations with his perfect bedside manner, considerate approach, and quick, yet thorough, examination. The entire team showcased exceptional knowledge and expertise. I used to work in an eye center, and I can confidently say that the Eye Center of North Florida surpasses any comparison. Dr. MacDonaldâs skills and the teamâs kindness made my visit truly remarkable. I highly recommend this eye center to anyone seeking top-notch eye care!
I also want to express my gratitude to the receptionist, whose name unfortunately slipped my mind. She went above and beyond (outside of her job duties) by assisting me in finding glasses frames that would be a perfect fit. Despite leaving without ordering due to dilated eyes, her guidance on what to look for and what would suit my face was invaluable. I wish I could personally thank her for her exceptional service and genuine...
