I have been to gyms all over the East Coast ( north and south), Chicago, and a few gyms on the west and now California. I also owned a gym before COVID came and changed my career path. With that being said this gym is the worst!
Let's start with the positive because I try and stay positive even about negative things. First the gym is moderately clean and equipment is normally working. Another thing I thought was great was that they have a room for ppl to flex and I assume take selfies and videos. I never use the but occasionally go inside to grab the Plyo box because they take it to prop their phone but I still thought it was a cool idea. Another good thing is they have 4 or 5 oly lifting platforms and plenty of dumbbells.
Ok now the cons. WAY TOO MANY TRIPODS STANDS! Every one thinks they are a Tiktok star. Also a huge negative and I'm pretty sure not legal is ppl are taking videos and pictures in the locker room. I literally got into a spat with someone who tried to tell me to move from changing because they wanted to use the mirror in the locker rooms where ppl are changing. When I asked the front desk what there policy was they seemed like they didn't care. There are more then enough mirrors ( including the room I mentioned) to take pics and vids. Also there are ppl that prop there cameras so far away from them and expect you not to use the area between them and all the equipment they obstructing because they want to record nonsense. It's out of control.
I continue to frequent this gym because of convenience and I'm locked into a contract but as soon as I am able I will...
Read moreThe Gym has a decent selection of equipment and the other customers that work out there are generally courteous and friendly.
I had to give low stars though for the following reasons:
The other reviews that talk about cussing are true. If you're like me and like working out with your kids, you're going to want to skip this place. I'm a military veteran, former football player, and I sometimes have a foul mouth. The music they play is X-Rated. It's really bad. As I understand it, the place is being reported to the city council for review and revocation of its license for the shady...
Read moreA decent welcoming gym environment. Some days it's not too overcrowded but some other days it can be overbearing with tripods, dirty towels and sweat on equipment is too much of an itch to ignore. There is enough equipment to get you through a conventional workout but I wish there was more variety because there is too much redundancy in the archetype (example : too many flat bench stations ) They should rearrange some of the less commonly used and replace with more functional parts. The newly El Cajon location has been supplied with new equipment and that location seems to get more love than the Chula Vista location; safe to say it's time for a remodel. The price of the membership can be debatable for pros and cons; $25-30 to start is not excessively expensive not as cheap as PF or Chuze but in the mid-tier with LA Fitness and 24 but given the lack of variety of equipment like I mentioned earlier I expected more for the membership I'm paying. They do also offer a cafe in the adjacent building and a well being fit program that houses its own equipment but you must be a member to get access and pay a separate plan for the well being program and the program costs $80 (not included in the standard plan) I would only sign up if you live near within the area , if you don't mind seeing the abundance of several tripods on nearly every machine and being able to deal with the overcrowding the gym can get at...
