California Sushi — Restaurant in Chula Vista

Zero stars if I could. HARD PASS find somewhere else if u could. Told me it would take 45 mins for a sushi roll to go. This place is wack!!! I told the lady at the front that I am just asking for food to go but she told me we cant put your food in front of others. I understand you busy and dont have seating but it shouldn't take that long to make a sushi roll. I asked if I could order and pay and if it cant come out in time for me to get back to work for lunch in time can i just get a refund or something. she still said no because what if they make the food. Idk thats crazy if i order and you cant get the order to go in 30 mins then thats your guys bad. I Google this place and drove over from my lunch break they should have some kind of disclaimer on google or yelp so people dont drive all the way there to order. Their customers service is not ok something is up with how their managing their store. Their restaurant is full to capacity every table is occupied. probably more than their allowed to have during the pandemic. Its a super small place and there were definitely like 50-75 people in there....

I love the sushi here! Unlike others I’ve been to this sushi is fresh, prepared quick and taste great! Dynamite roll is my favorite! Featured is the Temecula roll.

With so many places to eat sushi some have the environment but lack in service. Even though the ambiance of this establishment is not as traditional the sushi is definitely delicious!

They offer some lunch specials but not much towards diner time. Prices are what you would expect of a sushi restaurant in San Diego.

Overall I keep coming back for the friendly service and tasty rolls.

For the owner, I think the establishment could be more modernized; including more happy hours of sushi; and include an overall theme. The establishment feels very bought not taken over. I understand sushi isn’t cheap but maybe include some more sushi deals. Lastly, it’s fairly obvious this place was simply bought and lacks a true “theme.” The name California sushi doesn’t really inspire a even California vibe. I’d say invest more into the establishment. Other than that...

The worst service I have wvwr experienced after placing our order the waitress never returned to check up on us. Took 50 minutes to get 2 ordered of edamame. Apparently our order had gotten missplaced... this aight the airport and that's not out luggage it's my danm food order. If the waitress would have taken the time to check up on us or our food maybe she would have known that. When the gentleman brought out our half assed cooked edamame we expressed our frustration to which he tried justifying the waitress actions. You don't do that you apologize for the inconvenience and say this is on the house we will get your order our promptly but did he NO! he went on how it wasn't her fault and what not. He then did n ring our a plate of fried rice and said this is on the house but still no apology. I would understand if it was busy but it sure was not. I come here often and had never experienced such bad service. Anywho not...
