Great selection of beers and spirits, a very visited bar and a local of Chula Vista, you can always count with a very fun crowd to be in there on a saturday night. Good size dance floor with many people to dance with and also the staff is very nice and friendly. Good people and good drinks that's the soul of the Silver Dollar.

My boi jose likes to hit up this spot for the cheap tall cans, entertainment, and loose women. Of course, he brings the worst out in people/places, so this place is actually not that bad (at least when he's not around). Really friendly staff and great location.

The K.d.j is too old and doesn't click with the youth and his first night back he was moving to slow and customers were leavening..the wait was to long and as soon as he is drunk he starts messing up. The SILVER DOLLAR WAS ON TOP IN THE MID 90S BUT ITS AT THE BOTTOM OF THE BARRELL IN 2013, BAR TENDERS ARE POT HEADS AND DRUNKS AND SOME ARE EVEN ON METH,STay AS far AWAY from this Bar, BEFORE YOU GET CHARGED WITH SOMETHING,FOR JUST HANGING AT/WITH THE SILVER DOLLAR AND ITS DRUNK EMPLOYEES,I HEARD ONE OF MY FRIENDS EVEN GOT ALCOHOL POISONING FROM A TIP HAPPY BARTENDER...BE CAREFUL EVERYONE...TWEEKERS ND METH HEAD ALCOHOLICS SUCK AND SO DOES THIS NASTY HOLE IN THE WALL THEY CALL THE "SILVER DOLLAR" GET YOU RABIES SHOT BEFORE YOU GO AND START TOUCHING THINGS INSIDE THAT HERPIE INFESTED BAR.. PLEASE GET YOUR VACCINATIONS AGAINST THE EMPLOYEES AND THE OWNER AND THAT BAR...

Iā€™ve been going here since I turned 21 and let me tell you the staff here are amazing!! Especially security! As a young female who goes to dive bars.. it can be hard to feel ā€œsafeā€ in certain locations. But silver dollar always makes me feel so at home and soo safe. Especially Jerry the security who is always walking around keeping his head on a swivel. If a weird guy approaches me heā€™s the first one to walk over and make sure Iā€™m okay. He is the most professional yet sweetest security I have ever met and I work in nightlife in downtown SD. Heā€™s become a main reason why I enjoy coming to silver dollar as I know I can have a few drinks and still feel incredibly safe!! Love...

NEW REVIEW: It looks like this place has gotten new ownership and cleaned up. I was surprised to see this place looking so good after so many years of being such a bad dive. They'l have to keep it up and make lots of effort to turn their reputation around and earn those fourth and fifth stars, but definitely no longer deserve my previous 1 star review and the review I gave it before.
