Several years ago, I took my wedding ring to "Wise" Choice Jewelers to have it repaired. Three of the six prongs had broken off and needed to be re-tipped so that I would not lose the diamond. I was pleased with the price, $10 per prong seemed reasonable. I was a little irritated by how long it took the shop to give me my ring back. They had given me a timeframe of a few weeks, and after not hearing from them after the stated date, I called and it still wasn’t finished yet. Finally after several weeks (and several phone calls asking for an update) I got my ring back. I wasn’t thrilled with the work, but I was glad to have my wedding ring, and glad that my diamond hadn’t fallen out. Well, I found out the hard way that you get what you pay for. A few years later, the cheap re-tipping failed, only this time I lost one of the little diamonds in my ring. I was naive, not knowing where else to go, and not being knowledgeable about jewelry, I took my ring back to "Wise" Choice to have them repair it again. I thought that perhaps after time jewelry just needed repairing and this was normal…. ? It turns out this was a very POOR choice. Another whole frustrating experience of having them keep my ring for WEEKS and longer than they told me it would take before I finally got it back . It wasn’t long before the cheap prongs failed yet again. This time, I was so frustrated that I decided to find a better jeweler who actually knows what they were doing. I was finally ready to fork out some money to have my ring PROPERLY fixed. And, yes, I had to pay quite a bit more, but I learned my lesson about getting what you pay for. Sadly, because I did not go to a professional in the first (or second) place, I had to have quite a bit of work done on my wedding ring to fix the fiasco that "Poor Choice" Jewelers did. The friendly, knowledgeable staff at the REAL jewelry repair shop (Gold Tender Jewelry on Base Rd) showed me through a magnifying glass the tips that “Poor Choice Jewelers” had done and what porous cheap material they used. I saw for myself all the holes throughout the material. No wonder it was brittle and failed. The tips were all wonky and uneven, some closer together and some farther apart. They were globby and thick. Like the cheap material was just plopped on and hardened wherever it fell. Gold Tender Jewelry told me they would have my ring fixed in two weeks, and it was finished in LESS time than they had estimated. It was like NEW. Beautiful, delicate, professional, perfect. You REALLY get what you pay for, and I couldn’t be happier with my wedding ring now. If you want CHEAP, uneven, shoddy, globby work with solder that is porous and not real gold, than go ahead, make the poor choice like I did (Twice) and entrust your treasured jewelry with “POOR Choice Jeweler” I attached pictures so that you can see for yourself.

I won’t lie that I was a bit nervous after reading some of the recent reviews. But don’t be! I had three items repaired (and ultimately cleaned)- a beloved cross pendant, my husband’s watch, and a heritage pocket watch necklace that had a ton of sentimental value. The work was absolutely beautiful and extremely reasonable. Yes, 3 digits hurts the wallet but for what was done, it could have been far worse and I regained beloved pieces. I wish you could see how truly sparkly and shiny my cross came out! I was awwwwwed! Also, Kim is direct, but hilarious and friendly. And DD (Patty/Patsy?) is super friendly. We sat back and talked for several minutes about the beautiful stories behind some of the pieces. As for completion time, I was quoted a week-ish. That happened to fall in a holiday week so it took about a week and a half. I picked up at two weeks bc I failed to read their hours (my fault not theirs) and missed them on Friday evening. For three pieces, is not a problem at all! I will absolutely return to Wise Choice Jewelers to have my future jewelry repairs completed. I have to get my ring resized for this summer and these swollen fingers!! 🤣. Thanks Kim and DD!

I am beside myself. I brought in an Omega Seamaster to has a link added… what a mistake. The owner, Kim, installed it in the wrong place (next to the case, not the clasp) lost a pin and tube… damaged the case, damaged the bracelet… and laughed and scoffed at me when I voiced my concerns. Their watchmaker Joe tried to make it right by polishing out some of the damage and installing the link in the right location. He also found the parts I provided on the floor in the back… alas, the link was installed backwards with the polished side facing in. I will be taking it anywhere but here to correct the issue. To add a final dash of insult I was charged $22, despite being told it would be “5 to 10 dollars”.

ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE ARTISTRY – Wise Choice Jewelers

Picture #3 is what I found one day at work. The sapphire center stone was gone from my ring I bought 38 years ago. Picture #4 shows the poor ring condition after 38 years as a daily wearer.

The ring purchase funds, 38 years ago, came from a promotion and delayed pay raise totaling +19%. Yuppers….+19%. Therefore, the ring was an important, personal and, daily reminder.

I was referred to Wise Choice Jewelers by a family member who raved about their exceptional personal experience.

This decision was a great, Wise Choice!

Wise Choice Jewelers is nestled in the Cibolo Downtown Historic district and has been there 18 years. Kim Wise, the proprietor, has been a jeweler for 32 years. Kim acquires rare jewelry items from jewelry auctions, estate sales and customers via trade-ins. Some items include loose stones that can be crafted into your existing piece or a new piece of art. Kim may very well have or find exactly what you are looking for.

Picture #1 is the finished ring. It’s breathtaking.

The final result was possible through dialog and recommendations. I had not even cleaned the ring in 38 years. So, I was asking for Kim to lend her artistic, jeweler opinion on design adjustments. Kim recommended a larger sapphire center stone for brilliance and color and, to showcase the sapphire. This was key in creating a new look to a 38 year old piece. Kim also recommended she polish the entire top surface for flash and not just the sides as the ordinal ring was crafted. Kim also advised an original assembly edge be smoothed out and polished. Finally, a deep, ultrasonic clean was completed, removing 38 years of dirt from the channel holding the three high quality diamonds.

Part of this project was color matching the new sapphire center stone to the face of my Swiss Army Victorinox watch. Wise Choice Jewelers were also installing a new, watch movement.

During the project process, Kim was in regular communications with me as I needed to choose the sapphire stones for final approval.

I’m am SO impressed by the craftsmanship Kim and Wise Choice Jewelers provided.

You can see from the store video and pictures, Wise Choice Jewelers is very organized. Their studio is almost a work of art in and of itself. There’s even two bench seats, cushioned, available if you have a brief wait.

If this location is not in your backyard, plan a trip to include the Cibolo Downtown Historic district. They are next door to Harmon's BBQ, top rated AWARD WINNING, just up the street from Catalano’s Pizzeria, a must lunch/dinner opportunity, and a barber shop in a previous bank office. There’s even a large, gravel, “Zen” garden across the street.

GREAT, AWESOME, “I’M SO HAPPY” job to Kim Wise and Wise Choice Jewelers.

You have earned my current and future...
