At Christmas of 2016 I hurt my back at work and was in intense pain. I never knew when my body would be gripped with a immobilizing back spasm. I went to a PT doctor and got a little better. He gave me some excercises to help me strengthen my core. He said that I had to do the exercises everyday and that I would hurt the rest of my life and would just have to live with it. He has the same injury as I do and this is how he lives. I tried to keep up with the exercises but they just made me angry. There must be a better way, I needed more help. My wife has done yoga videos for years and has asked me to join her. I didn't understand it and felt silly when I tried it. Around the first of 2017 my wife told me about a yoga workshop that was going to be offered near our home. I didn't really want to go but my exercises weren't working and I was in allot of pain. Angie gently invited me to explore the world of yoga. After my first class I felt something new in my body. Yoga is powerful self care that I need. I have been practicing yoga now for 6 months. I have gained muscle weight. My back doesn't hurt and I stopped doing my PT exercises. I am stronger in my core than I have ever been, even when I was in the military. I am more flexible and don't feel like an old man, at 40. I can play with my kids more than I have in a long time. The greatest gains that I have made are on the inside. Angie teaches to listen to what your body needs, today, in this session. She encourages us to go at our own pace our own breath and honor our bodies needs. I am a go getter and have over done it in yoga a few times. Angie has taught me to slow down and listen. This practice of caring for and listening to my body has changed my life. I have capacity and ability to live and love better. I am so thankful for yoga and for my teachers Angie and Deanna. I love that this is a practice in which I can keep growing for the rest of my life. I have so much farther...
Read moreBeing on a strict Dave Ramsey diet, my husband and I had been on the look out for free or cheap date night ideas. As a result, I totally manifested two free tickets to Wine Down Wednesday via Facebook!
Angela hosted and it was "the best, to say the least"!** The class was fun, spirited, and laid back. The classroom was clean and relaxing. They offer mats, blocks, and straps. Everyone who attended was personable and friendly. At one point, we all stood in a circle, put our arms around one another, and held one of our legs up. We all had to hold onto each other for support. After all the giggling subsided, Angela said, "See. We can't do it alone". At the end of class, we all walked across the street to the 1908 House of Wine and Ale to cash in our drink tickets (that is included in the class) and to make new friends.
Unbeknownst to me, it would be the last date night my husband and I would have for two months. He is a veteran who suffers and left to heal his mind at Warriors Heart Rehabilitation Center. ("You can't do it alone")
He is better, for now, and so am I for making my yoga practice a regular part of both of our lives since that night and I thank Concrete Yoga and Angela for the memory, wise words, and peace that came with that evening.

Read moreThis studio is great! The community is so inviting and supportive. As a male it can be intimidating to start going to yoga, but I felt at home after the first class.
I enjoy this studio so much that I now have my wife and sister-in-law signed up and attending classes. Soon even my son will be attending the kids yoga party!
The studio is super clean and follows the COVID-19 safety policies to the letter. The studio also has a very unique and beautiful esthetic to it.
