Hug Jewelers — Local services in Cincinnati

June 2024 I asked Hug Jewelers to remount my diamond. It had the original mounting for 26 yrs. They offered a great price and came highly recommended.

Unfortunately it's not been a great experience.

They took nearly a month to do it. The only guy who could do it was sick. I know people get sick. I was just surprised that they only have 1 person able to do it. I got no phone calls about the delay.

They mounted it in white gold instead of the yellow gold that I originally had. This wasn't ran by me ahead of time. I found out the day I picked it up. I asked why and they said it was standard. This totally changed the look of my diamond which has bothered me ever since. I even took it back to Stafford with my original specs and asked them to confirm my original diamond was on there because it looked so different.

And now.. 1 year later one of the prongs is already bent.

I looked past the first 2 things that I wasn't happy about.. but now that I'm looking at another repair i feek like my experience warrants a review.

They may be cheaper but you get what...

I cannot recommend Steve and his team enough! My fiance and I had a vision for our engagement ring and after visiting LOTS of jewelry stores, we realized that a chain jewelry store would be unable to create the ring we wanted. With his years of experience and expertise in designing and fabricating custom jewelry, Steve was able to create the exact ring I wanted. We were involved in each step of the process. We created the design with Steve and he created renders for me to view before casting a wax model for me to try on. I was able to choose the exact sapphire I wanted from a selection Steve brought in for me. My fiance wanted the engagement to be a surprise and Steve and his family were able to complete the ring in half the expected time to make that happen. My boyfriend and I were referred to Hugs by a coworker who spoke very highly of the company and Steve. We stopped in to meet with Steve to start looking at engagement rings. He was beyond knowledgeable and able to bring what I imagined to life. He was so kind, as was is assistant. We caught him just before his trip to Las Vegas for the jewelry show, perfect timing for him to scope out the stone we want! Needless to say, we are beyond eager to return tomorrow to see what he brought back for us! I cannot wait to continue working with him, and look forward to having our custom wedding bands made, as well! I will always refer family and friends to Hugs now, 10 stars to this...
