Just Ducky Balloon Experiences — Local services in City of Long Beach

This was an absolutely amazing experience. I brought my wife for her birthday and it turned out to be a memory that we’ll never forget.

We chose the package that included dinner at the Mountain View Chalet and it was incredible. So much thought is put into every detail of the experience and it shows.

Everyone we met was extremely welcoming and treated us like we were old friends. That went a long way towards easing the little bit of anxiety I had about flying.

Speaking of which; I fully expected to be at least a little nervous about the heights- but everything is so smooth and peaceful up there that I surprisingly wasn’t anxious at all.

Bruce was our pilot and he was outstanding. He explained everything along the way and educated us a lot on the area and about ballooning. We never felt unsafe at any point with him at the controls.

Kelly orchestrated everything for us and piloted a balloon for another group at the same time that we went up- it’s really incredible to see multiple hot air balloons going up and flying together. Even though she was with another group, she always made sure to check in with us and keep us updated on what to expect the entire time. She was awesome.

There was also a ground crew that, I have to apologize, I can’t remember all of their names except for one they called “Blister”, apparently because he always shows up after all the hard work is done 🤷‍♂️. All of them were super cool and friendly and the fun stuff can’t happen without them.

Blister made sure that we got some really amazing pictures and videos. He was really thoughtful and knew exactly what the best views were going to be. He even let me help set up the ballon, but I suspect he did that more because he didn’t want to work too hard 😉. Either way, it was really cool to be able to experience helping set everything up- it’s definitely not something most people get to do.

Dinner afterwards was icing on the cake. A great meal with excellent service and a few mementos of the trip. It’s not an exaggeration for me to say that this was something that we’ll remember for the rest of our lives.

Do be mindful that even the most accurate forecast is still not perfect. Our first attempt to fly unfortunately got rescheduled because of unexpected winds. Kelly and Bruce were very apologetic but it wasn’t worth the safety risk. We were disappointed but completely understood. They still spent time with us and told us about the area and even suggested a great place to eat not far from where we were.

My suggestion would be to be flexible with your dates in case the weather doesn’t cooperate.

You landed in our hay field tonight without permission, and immediately next to 7 of our horses. All the horses were scared and running around, yet you continued to run the burners while taking photos for your clients, and increasingly terrifying the horses. Your support crew then drove over our neighbour’s land, again without permission, to pack up the balloon, and extensively trampling the hay in our field which is close to being harvested. The excuse you gave for landing here was that you were running out of fuel and options. That is very poor planning and irresponsible piloting.

On your website you state “I don't ever know exactly where I will land. I usually have a very good idea based on the direction and speed of the wind during the time of the scheduled flight. An Ideal landing site will be an open area free of livestock, crops, trees, and other obstacles. Safety is my chief concern while seeking a landing site”.

And yet you deliberately landed on our hay crop and on our horse farm with the horses in clear view. Is it normal practise to land without the landowner’s permission?

In response to your reply, you land right next to our horses’s fields, just a few feet away! You stayed near the balloon the entire time with the burners lit so how on earth could the horses have heard you talking to them, especially as they were galloping around in a panic?

By repeatedly using the burners you just served just to frighten the horses more and more, and created an incredibly dangerous situation, as I went into the field to try to calm the horses, one of them galloping away from the balloon in a blind panic twice very nearly ran into me, missing me by a couple of inches. If he had hit me at a gallop, this could well have been fatal or resulted in severe injury.

We have spoke to our neighbour whose land you drive across to retrieve the ballon. He said he he did not give you permission and knew nothing about it. We certainly did not give you permission.

If you were not running out of fuel, why did you choose to land on our horse farm next to horses and on a hay crop, and without any of the...

So I decided to surprise my girl with a beautiful balloon ride. I was introduced to Kelly via mutual friend. I have to tell you Kelly has been very patient in answering all questions that concern most normal people who’ve never flown in a bloom before. And she had a repeat it a few times to calm us down…

We had a surprise my girlfriend and Kelly worked together with our bed-and-breakfast place in Pennsylvania her name is Barbara and together we came up with a wonderful surprise to get my girlfriend onto the balloon without knowing it was happening.

The balloon ride was absolutely wonderful. Turned out to balloons went up and we had Bruce as our pilot. He was wonderful!… He described everything that we would be going through and seeing. The landing was fantastic and I can now check this off of my bucket list.

After the balloon ride we all went back to our bed-and-breakfast and had a great little party with Barbara, Kelly and Bruce and the crew from the balloon ride.

Keep in mind this isn’t a ride at an amusement park… This is a great interaction with people who wanna show you an experience you’ll never see you again.

I will never forget this wonderful excursion, and the great experience Kelly and Bruce gave us. It was so good we’re planning a fall trip.
