I went into Thompsons and purchased a Kitchen aid stove that had a dent at the bottom. It was still a very expensive stove so I was a bit apprehensive. I spoke to the owner Marty and he said it was cosmetic damage only and there were zero issues with the stove, he stated he checked it out himself. I took his word as he is the owner of the store, I would expect he had some integrity. I asked if there was a warranty on the stove and he said “YES, 1 YEAR we will take care of you if anything is wrong”. I purchased the stove and as soon as I turned it on I had a very bad smell of burning plastic. I have pets and was extremely concerned with this strong odor. He came to the house and said it’s fine… Ok.. the smell stopped. The next day I tried to cook something that the package said should take 40 minutes…. It took 1.5 hours, so I again called the store, Marty came over looked at it, and said nothing was wrong. (Not true) But Ok. I took that answer but everything was taking much longer to cook than usual. So I purchased an oven thermometer after feeling gaslit and knew I needed to prove if the temperature was running incorrectly and found out the stove was 50 degrees off… I went on the kitchen aid website and was able to adjust the oven temp by 30 degrees so it was still off by 25 degrees. I called the office and they set up an appointment for service for the 16th (a pretty long wait but once again, I was just trying to go with the motions to get this all resolved). I again tried to use my oven and something was very wrong the bottom drawer, it got so hot I had to use oven mitts to get out my cookie tray and the top where the panel is for the controls was so hot, you needed an oven mitt to touch it. It was hot enough to burn skin and there is no way to avoid this panel while cooking on the stovetop. At this point I did not want this stove anymore, I’d had enough, I didn’t want the stove to blow up in my house. I called and asked if they could make this situation right, I do not feel safe with this stove. I was told that they would NOT take it back at all… again I have had this stove only 3 weeks and it has not worked properly since week 1!… I did hang up on Marty when he REFUSED to take this stove back after specifically stating he would take care of the stove if anything went wrong and clearly there was a major problem. I posted a review of the stove on his page and on my personal page and this is when the harassment began. Marty commented on my post on the review, I deleted it! He commented from his personal name on my post in several areas… I deleted them I don’t need that stress… He then had Amber (the very rude young lady that answers the phone) come comment several times basically calling me a LIAR. I attached the screenshots. I called the store and told them to stop harassing me and I sent a text message to Marty telling him to have his staff stop harassing me. I attached the screenshot. Once they got the message that I would call the police if needed, he then stated he would refund me. Of course, it was 100 dollars short in the refund but it is what it is, I was dealing with someone who has no integrity whatsoever. So buyer beware, if you want a refund or have an issue with anything be prepared to fight to get what is right. Thankfully I stuck up for myself and did not let them rip me off of $1859, this was not a 100 dollar stove it was a very...
Read moreBeen buying from Thompson's for 30 plus years….Many appliances ! Washers dryers refrigerators dishwashers ranges etc ….Referred our kids and family and friends to them….. We recently bought a washing machine….Had a problem with it jumping around during the empty cycle…. Covered under warranty ….They could not get a service tech to come out and fix the problem…After all these years and purchases they just left us hanging….Turned us over to Whirlpool who called and said they couldn’t get anyone to our home either….We finally just called our service tech…. He was here in two hours…Very very disappointing and upsetting experience! We certainly will never go back ! Seems Thompson’s had options to take care of us and not lose such a long term loyal customer…Long term very costly for them… Yesterday we went to Lowe’s and bought a...
Read moreWorst customer service ever! I bought an apartment sized dryer that was dropped off in my kitchen. When I plugged it in, it was broken. Marty said he would order me a new one. After a few weeks, his guys brought a dorm sized dryer...1/2 the size & 1/2 the price. I refused it & had them take it back. When i mentioned price, he said i didnt give him a chance to refund me any $ if i would have accepted it. He couldnt think of that when he ordered it or delivered it! And never mentioned it until I did. A smart business man would have asked me if I would accept a smaller, cheaper dryer before ordering it. When I returned the broken one, he kept 25% of my $. So, yes, I lost out because I didn't accept a broken dryer or a 1/2 price one. So beware of what you order & make sure it works before they leave it with you....
