I came to this jeweler to purchase an engagement ring and had a horrible experience with this location. Upon applying for financing I was told to wait to speak with someone on a phone call who informed me that my phone number I provided would not work when apply for financing. When prompted for another phone number, I told them I did have another phone number and gave it to them, but didn't have it on me. The representative from financing said that I would need to go and get it unless I wanted to give them a bank statement, drivers license front and back, social security card front and back AND a recent bill sent to my address with my name on it (which I don't even have as I am not a home owner and do not live alone). So I drove the 40mins back to my home and back to retrieve my phone. On the drive back I called 2 separate Kay jewelers and asked about this process and both said that they would never need for me to have my phone on my person to apply for financing. Upon returning, I went through the same process to apply for financing except I spoke with another representative who told me I would need to submit a bank statement and front and back of my drivers license. After this, I waited in the store for about 20 mins expecting to hear back from the financing company. After asking the manager how long this would take they informed me "about a couple of days". I have no idea why they would not inform me that I would have to wait days for this process as I would have left the store already and come back when my application had been approved. After waiting a day or two and talking to customer service via telephone, I apparently STILL needed to email bills with my name and address on it as well as a social security card which WAS NOT communicated to me via the second representative, so my application would have never been processed anyways! I was initially informed that if I (for WHATEVER reason) had my other phone number on me, all I would need to provide them with was a phone number. NOT my social security card, bank statements, drivers license and bills with my name and address! The most ridiculous thing about this entire process is that nowhere in these events did I need to bring my cellphone with me for verification, as the first representative and manager informed me. I did not even need financing to purchase this jewelry and have found the inconsistencies with representatives for the financing plan to be incredibly unprofessional. I will happily be taking my...
Read moreI really didn't want to write a review but after I spoke to other people I realize this is a common practice.
Today I lost one of my earrings and decided to walk to the mall to buy a new pair. I usually shop at Zales or Paul but decided to go to Kay Jewelers because my parents bought me a beautiful diamond necklace and earring set for my first mother's day gift which was pretty pricey but beautiful.
As soon as I walked in, no one greeted me and everyone gave me dirty looks as if my money was no good there. One of the 4 ladies that were in the store finally greeted me and I asked her to show me a pair of gold earrings. I was in a rush so I decided to buy the first ones she showed me.
She asked me for my personal information, which I always decline no matter which store I went to. But this lady was adamant and said I needed it incase I wanted to return it. I said no thank you. She was persistent but I just asked to pay so I can leave. She then printed my receipt and then told me she has to write "Customer does not want to return item" on my receipt. I have never been to a store a day in my life where someone told me they have to write on the receipt to make sure I don't return it. I found that very odd.
I told my mother and father about this transaction and they said they experienced the same treatment when they went there. No one greeted them or spoke to them unless they asked for help and they were rude during their transaction.
If you are a person of color, don't shop there. Poor customer service and very weird interactions. If you want great customer service go to Zales or Paul's. They go out of their way to let you know they will assist you immediately after they're done with their customers. Paul Jeweler's didn't treat me like a thief and even handed me multiple jewelry as we walked around each store to make sure I can compare and see which ones I want.
If my parent's didn't spend so much money and thought into my first mother's day gift I would have immediately went to return every item I got from them. Every customer deserves to be treated with...
Read moreThe worst experience I've ever had. I walked in and was greeted by a lady. Before I could even say what I was looking for, she pushed me off on a lady who did not speak english. I told the lady I was looking for a charm bracelet for my gf. She walks me over to a very small selection of bracelets. I asked if they were charm bracelets, and she just nodded. I asked if she had charms, and she gave me a confused look. I'm a guy, I have no idea what I'm looking at. So she picks one out and hands it to me. I asked again if they had charms and got another confused look. I decided I would just get the one she showed me, and I would bring my gf back if she didn't like it. Her bday comes, and I give her the bracelet. She looks at me like im crazy she said this was not a charm or even a womans bracelet. She put it on, and it was huge. She said the lady gave me a mans bracelet. We go back to the store and get a refund. While waiting, we looked around, and my gf said they didn't even have charm bracelets. We get the refund and head to the jeweler across the mall. We get in the other store, and the guy that did our return had chased us to the other store. Apparently, he misplaced the $300 bracelet and thought we had walked off with it. We had to follow him back to the store embarrassed, only for him to immediately find it. Kay is supposed to be a major jeweler, and yet they can't afford people who speak english or can keep track of $100+ merchandise. I took her to Paul's Jewelers, and they were so much better they spoke english and brought us straight to the pandora bracelets. They had dozens to choose from and plenty of charms. If you dont know about jewelry, dont go here they dont...
