Food Lion — Local services in Clarksville

I don't often shop at Food Lion as I have almost all of my groceries delivered from other stores who offer it, but after my last visit, I think I will do so more often. I was able to find everything I needed (and then some) easily. The stores were neat and organized and prices were great - especially with the MVP card.

I was unable to find some pork loin, and waited in the meat department while other customers were being assisted by an employee. She seemed a little frazzled and rushed.

I overheard employees talking about being short-handed as someone had called out and their truck was late. Still, I caught the employee, Jessica, as she rushed by with a load of turkeys and I asked about the pork loins. She said they were still unloading a truck and after she finished unloading that pallet and the next one of turkeys, she could look for the pork loin. I told her I would be happy to wait and asked if she knew how long as I figured I could finish shopping and stop back. She said she had no idea, so I waited in the meat department. This interaction made me feel like I was bothering her (which I am sure I was) and did impact my rating by 1 star.

Sandy then came out of the back and asked if she could help me. I explained I was just waiting for Jessica to finish the turkeys so she could look for the pork loin. Sandy immediately went to the back and found them. I could see her unpacking them in the back. Sandy made me feel like a valued customer and definitely impacted my rating for the better.

Jessica then came out with her arms loaded with 4 of them and very happily and graciously offered them up, asking which one I wanted. She was very warm and friendly at this point, and I chose 3 of them. Again, this impacted my rating on the positive side.

The clincher was checkout. I didn't get the employee's name at the register, but he was friendly and efficient. By far, the standout was Deborah. She bagged my groceries, and helped me take them out to the car as I am partially disabled. As she unloaded my cart, I grabbed a bag of frozen items and said I would put that in the back seat, as I would only be unloading the frozen/refrigerator items and leaving the rest in the car for my husband to unload when he got home from work. Without being asked, she then began sorting the bags, carefully checking each one for a frozen or refrigerated item and placed those in the back seat for me so that I wouldn't have to struggle with them when I got home. That's the kind of customer service that will keep me coming back to Food Lion....

I have always loved food lion I grew up only coming to this location because of the fresh cut meats and friendly staff , but today was Sunday and I had just come back from spreading my father's ashes and my mother too upset to shop asked me to pick up a lasagna so I do and grab a bottle of wine not even thinking it was Sunday because my mind was elsewhere and I went to check out and the woman with no sincerity takes the bottle and sets it behind her and says we don't sell wine on Sundays and keeps ringing my groceries . totally fine forgot the day not a big deal but she easily when she saw me put it on the counter told me and with a friendlier voice and I would of put it back where I found it or something she just treated me like I was about to take off with it if she didn't snatch it from me just so rude and uncalled for . her attitude sucked and I don't like the direction food lion is going . I heard a publix was going up closer to my moms I'll just go there good luck food lion hope you make it with...

Love it. Have so much more variety than the one on HWY 48/13. I just moved from the Cunningham area to a Memorial Drive condo complex. Just wondering why such a difference in the food items on Madison street as opposed to the Cunningham area store? So pleased that I can get everything I need at Food Lion instead of having to make a trip to Kroger and Publix too. Thank you for stocking all the little extras. The little fancy foods that normally only Kroger would carry or Publix. Sure saves me time. About time we had a more upscale Food Lion. I hate Walmart, would rather be beat that go to Walmart. Really tired of seeing people in their PJ,'s with half of their back side hanging out. Not a pretty site. Ruins...
