Food -- 5/5: The food is always colorful and pleasing to look at, which is always a great first impression. Taste-wise, I thoroughly enjoy most items I eat. As of this review, the menu and salad bar has been revamped. Some items were removed, some added. Overall, a good move, though I'm not particularly fond of some of the changes. Some of the items I've eaten don't seem as if they're prepared correctly--the bacon Mac & Cheese in particular was always dry when I ordered it, so I guess that's just how it's made. Aside from a few hiccups I expect at every restaurant, I find the food to be superb.
Responsiveness and knowledge of servers -- 5/5: Most of the long-time servers have a very acute awareness of my needs, even if they're not voiced. It just goes to show their tenure. I rarely finish a drink before it's refilled. An exception to this is on a weekend at the end of the night. Sometimes the servers are absent for minutes at a time, and I only notice when I'm suddenly in need of something. It's mainly because of the casual atmosphere, and since that's what I enjoy, I don't say anything. I'm also going to say that I wouldn't be surprised if the servers just pick up on the fact that I'm very low maintenance and so don't check on me very often. The opposite is very true for customers at the bar who are always getting attention. If anything, I can appreciate their ability to read people, as that's very important in a restaurant setting. I don't particularly like to be bothered a lot if I'm reading, which I sometimes do, and they pick up on this, giving me space while making sure I'm cared for. The servers are very knowledgeable about their products as well, including newly-trained staff. I rarely feel uninformed about my choices.
Ambience -- 4/5: Ruby Tuesday is the place I like to go for dinner and conversation. The booths are private, encouraging deep conversations, and the atmosphere is relaxed. Weekends during various sports seasons will see a rise in noise from cocktail sections, but throughout the restaurant, the setting is practically built for interactions with others without intrusion or distraction from others around you.
Decor and furnishings -- 4/5: Again, very casual. I feel at home here. The booths are very comfortable, and the lighting is relaxed. Really, the only reason I gave this four out of five is that I've seen the same paintings here for the past few years. It begins to grow stale.
Restrooms -- 3/5: This particular building's restroom is very small, and so I feel cramped if I'm in the restroom with even one more person. Only one person can use the sink, and the restroom can only support three people. The paper towels are cheap material I saw at my middle school. As a whole, though, the restroom is clean.
Hello and goodbye 5/5: It might be because I'm a regular, but I'm usually always greeted. There are times, however, when I walk in and there's no one at the host table to greet me. Not a big deal for me, as I usually seat myself at the bar, but for anyone wanting a table, this could be an inconvenience. I always have people telling me goodbye, though. All in all, everyone seems aware of customers entering and leaving.
Repeatable Business -- All in all, I find that this establishment consistently achieves the points above. I'm a regular customer...
Read moreBoy, I really wanted to like this place. My wife and I visited on a Friday at 5:15PM, dining in for the first time in a while. We were both optimistic and wanted it to be good. The service is fine - it's not quick, it's not super attentive, but the staff are friendly enough. As for the actual experience: 10 minutes to sit down (we were the only ones waiting) on a half-empty restaurant. Meh, not a big deal - sometimes you're short-staffed. After that, we sit down and ordered.. We got a starter of artichoke dip/chips and two entrees: an impossible burger for my wife and a 12 oz ribeye for myself. After ordering the server told us that the kitchen was busy and asked if that was okay.. At that point what are you supposed to say? "Sure, I have no idea what that means, but I'll assume it means the food will take a little longer?
While waiting I went to use the restroom - it was one of the smelliest restrooms I've ever been in - and I've been in some smelly restrooms. I was tucking my nose into my shirt while I was in there and couldn't wait to get out.
40 minutes later the server brought out the starter and both entrees at the same time. And here was where the real problem was: the food. It was bad. Really bad. The artichoke dip had a thin layer of heated artichoke dip at the top, and then chilled dip below that. It was without taste. The chips were borderline stale. But where I was irretrievably lost was the steak - it was honestly one of the worst steaks I've ever ordered. It was so thin that you couldn't really get it to be medium rare, so it wound up being super rare in some places and completely cooked through with greyish meat in other places. I ate a few bites and my mouth felt sticky and gross. I couldn't eat anymore. I asked for a box so I could bring it up, wash the salt off it and give it to my dog - which is exactly what I wound up doing. She loved it. So that's something I guess. Other stuff: The fries my wife got were fine. They were warm, slightly crisp fries. She thought the impossible burger was fne- not great, not terrible - unlike my steak. The onion rings I got were terrible: they were overdone and tasted weird. We got sparse portions at best. My wife got the impossible burger was pretty meh about the whole thing. By the end we just wanted to get out of there.
The best thing about the location wound up being that it was in the parking lot of Arby's - which is where I went when I left Ruby Tuesdays.
So to sum up: service is fine. restrooms and salad bar were dirty - and in one case - smelled bad. The food was some of the worst I've ever eaten. We both wanted to like it, but by the time we left, we both knew we wouldn't be going back. shrug Here's to hoping they work out whatever problems they need to to get themselves...
Read moreMy experience tonight was excellent, my wife and I had gone in after a day of apartment hunting. And we decided on their current special offerings. My wife had the Mac and cheeseburger, the hot chicken and bacon sandwich with sweet potato fries, for me with a strawberry and regular margarita, which were attractively presented, and served promptly. Our server Charles was clean well dressed and groomed. Promptly providing waters with lemon..we also had opted for the garden bar, which was impeccably clean well stocked and not messy like many places you may have visited in the past. (I really feel it worth mentioning the atmosphere here is surprisingly upscale and not at all what we as a whole have come to accept for an acceptable corporate feel.) Our food arrived promptly and was plated neatly with visually balanced portioning, the regular fries cooked perfectly and not over salted. Food serve temp was outstanding and the burger a perfect medium well 👌 (bravo charbroiler of the night. )The consistency of the Mac was spot on, though, the cheesyness to it was to me personally dull and lackluster, but still married well over all, with crumbled bacon to round to really make it pop as whole. I'm telling you it's definitely a must try. Oh and don't wait to long it's a limited offering. Which brings me to the hot chicken and bacon sandwic and sweet potatoes fries. The fries were awesome 👍 my sandwich however was.....and I want to say something first. Remember the true test of a restaurant isn't when they nail it, it's when they don't. It is here we find out how good of an experience your really going to have. And the staff at Ruby Tuesday did not disappoint, my server Charles particularly, when I noticed the breading on my chicken was way overdone, He looked at it heard my complaint and immediately offered to have it remade, which it was, and fast! Being personally delivered by the manager (who was also well presented and had a delightful personality)but this one also was overcooked,( I don't think this was an incompetence issue,y years of also working in the food service industry told me it was a fryer temp. issue and unlikely any one's fault. They offered to remove it from my bill, and I did not detetect so much as a hint of hostility but instead a genuine sense of regret at my disappointments. I truly wish to thank you guys for giving my wife and I such an awesome...
