My daughter and I arrived at Hananoki's at 430 in the afternoon. This is a decision we both regretted almost instantly. Hananoki's opens for dinner service at 4. We went in and were seated at the hibachi immediately. The first young man was friendly and personable and took our drink orders. She ordered sweet tea, I ordered unsweetened tea. He leaves and returns immediately with our tea. So far, so good. The tea tasted like it was turning. We place our orders. We both order the teriyaki chicken dinner and I order a side of chateaubriand. The chef wheels out the cart and start to prepare our meal just as our soup is delivered to the table. First impression, the grill does not appear very clean. They could have had a rush, so no biggies. Habachi places always make a show of cleaning the grill before starting. Hananoki's didn't. The chef made a vague wipe or two and started slicing zucchini and onions. Not the best start to a meal. The chef does the obligatory onion volcano but somehow misses the onion almost completely. He adds more accelerant to the onion and lights it. the missed accelerant fooshes up as well as the onion volcano all the way to the top of the hood and covers about a quarter of the grill! He quickly throws salt on the grill to smother the flames. Then, instead of cleaning the excess salt off,he continues making the meal! EVERYTHING we were served was way, way over salted. Like eating straight salt over salted. Okay, that was bad and Id think it was the cause of the overly salty food. Except the soup and salad was over salted also. In fact, the soup was nothing more than beef bullion with a couple of pieces of scallion slices a a single micro slice of button mushroom floating sadly in it. The chateaubriand was well cooked but salty. the chicken was well cooked but the sauce it was in was burnt and salty. the fried cabbage shreds were salty. Lets talk about the salad. The sesame ginger dressing was gritty and watered down. the chopped lettuce which made up the entirety of the salad was cut into 2 inch squares. Just big enough to be awkward to eat. My salad was drowning in this....horrible looking gritty liquid that was supposed to be dressing while my daughter's salad had the dressing waved vaguely in it's direction. Okay...fried rice! It's almost impossible to mess up fried rice! The chef plops a quart sized stainless steel bowl onto the grill and dumps the contents it's white rice with a smattering (maybe 6, 2 inch pieces) of shredded carrots. The chef adds sauce and ONE egg. Not one each, one egg. that's what the fried rice for two plates consisted of. a quart of white rice, one egg and a half dozen 2 inch long shreds of carrots. no onions, no peas, no meat. For 30 dollars a plate, I expected better. Don't bother with this one. there are better hibachi places here in town. Save yourself the stomach ache and eat...
Read moreIf I could leave a NEGATIVE review I would. My husband and our two friends went to dinner together. We arrived and sat at the bar for our 30 minute wait to get a table. We ended up sitting way longer and when we finally got to our table we waited even longer for the cook. While we were waiting, as anyone we were just hanging out and my husband had a medical issue with his back(you could definitely see on camera) so I basically have to carry him to the men's room and help him fix his back in high heels mind you! We resolve that issue, head back to our table and sit down. My salad comes out before the cook even comes to the table. I asked the waitress if she can put it in a fridge or something so I can eat with my party and she says yes, but they don't have anything to cover it with... I just suggested a napkin would suffice. The cook finally comes to the grill and begins cooking in which my husband gets his salad.... THIS SALAD! Was the size of a kids side salad but on the main salad menu. He was upset but politely asks her if he can purchase another one to make it bigger, she tells him NO. we told the cook to not cook his meat and that we were just going to leave at this point, can we have the CHECK. We get the check and they had added a $10.00 fee for "sitting at the table and not ordering hibachi food". I WAS MAD. I told them that this was bullcrap and if they would have just let my husband buy another salad so this starving at this point man could eat, we would be getting the damn hibachi food. Then they proceed to tell us that the boss decided not to waive that fee because we, Earlier in the evening..... WENT AND HAD SEX IN THE BATHROOM!!! 😟😵😡 you know when I struggled to get my unmobile husband to the restroom in heels 👠 ! How embarrassing. They didn't even bother to ask us what had happened earlier nor did they bother to check the cameras that they kept mentioning. HIGHLY RECOMMEND...
Read moreI like to read the low reviews. I'm kinda shocked. I have been going to the location on Lowes Dr. for almost 10 years almost monthly (they recently closed the doors to this location). Only one thing happened in all those years, and it was fixed immediately w/ no issues. Yesterday was my first time at the Madison St. location. I'm happy that the other chefs came along as well. One of my regular chefs made our food last night. In all my years, I have never seen anything negative. From a previous post I read, if there was raw chicken and a manager or owner got in my face, it would not end very well. But for that comment, I have never in all my years seen the owner yell at a customer. Are there long wait times - yes. If you are in a hurry or have plans for a specific time, then do not go to a habachi place. These workers are not robots. Will issues arise, yes. The prices have increased during the pandemic. I will repeat that if you are in a hurry, do not go until you have time. This is not fast food. The one thing I do agree with is the to go orders are sooooo much smaller and to me it is not worth the smaller portions for the same price as dinning in & I was not notified of the tip already being added last year on to go orders( I do not know if they still do) or I would not have given tip. I did not see it until I was looking at my receipt later that evening. I love going here and the food is great. I can not tell you about the sushi because I do not eat it. If I were to see issues, I def would say, but I've gone here even a couple of times a month. Come and relax and enjoy your food being cooked in front of you. I love how relaxing it is. I have been to all the habachi places in Clarksville. For me, this is my spot, and to me, the best one. Food is always great. The way they do their shrimp...
