As stated in my earlier review, Sunset Jewelry & Loan is the first "pawn" shop with which I have ever done business. My beloved dog recently required emergency veterinary surgery and I could not wait ten days to two weeks to sell stocks and get the check, have my bank hold it for two or more days, etc. I went to my jewelry box and pulled out several pieces, primarily 14 carat gold earrings, I had not worn in ten years or more; plus, I found a few unboxed electronic gifts I had not yet sent to their intended recipients. Kirk spent about an hour with me valuing the jewelry and showing me how he approximates the value of electronics (how would I ever have known there had been two new generations of Echo since I had bought one with 3 Wi-Fi plug-ins to enable "Alexa" to turn them on and off by voice command?). Kirk made me a generous offer, and I sold all the items to him on the spot and left the store with enough cash to ensure I could cover the cost of my dog's surgery (removal of a colorectal tumor and neutering), medication, and teeth cleaning, plus boarding if it became necessary. I cannot stress enough how patient and kind Kirk and his staff have been to me; and, I see him treat everyone who comes into the store with friendliness, compassion, and a desire to offer the best service possible. It is hard to find his wealth of knowledge, integrity, and genuine desire to earn and keep your business. Do not waste your time (and money) in those national chains or dark stores with too much neon in the windows, and give your business to a small business owner who will show you he appreciates your patronage. Thank you, Kirk,...
Read moreTalk about an expert on memorabilia, antiques, and collectibles! Kurt will explain to you what you have, what is worth, and what he’ll be willing to give you for it…fair and square. He will reimburse you top dollar for your gold and valued metals (more so than those “Cash For Gold” places), and will provide you with the knowledge and fair price on everything you have of value. Pawn business can be a rough business, but this little shop has the heart, the kindness, the integrity, the history and therefore…the understanding of the rough times you may be going through and wont treat you like you’re just another face walking in. Take it from a guy who went from pawn to pawn on East Bay Dr., 66th Street, and Gulf to Bay Blvd. desperately looking for someone to loan my memorabilia temporarily (due to rough times of my own). I stopped at places that saw me open the door and told me “not interested” without me mentioning a word!! I came to this little pawn shop, explained my situation to Kurt…Kurt cut me a deal. Now, my wife, parents, and close friends of mine wanna come over to buy and sell some of their items. He’s got a customer here for life! I’m telling you…you work with him he’ll work with you. I guarantee it! …if the cable network found this shop interesting and gave it a spot on their show…why...
Read moreKirk is the most honest and kindest man I’ve ever done business with, especially from a pawn shop! Not only is he very fair when it comes to prices he gives you on items that you pawn or sell but he is totally honest as well. I overheard him telling a customer that he thought the cross the customer was looking at to buy was cubic zirconia but come to find out, it was really was diamonds. But he made sure to completely check it out before even discussing selling him the item. In my experience that is usually the other way around! I came in one day to sell some items so I would have enough money for my doctors appointment the next day, and this man is such a gentleman that he even emailed me the next day to wish me good luck with my appointment! I wish there were more people doing business this way and truly cared for their customers the way Kirk does! Thank you, Kirk! I will being seeing you soon and sending anyone I know your way in the meantime! You are a...
