China 88 — Restaurant in Clearwater

Absolutely HORRIBLE food and experience. I bought some Sweet n Sour Shrimp to go and went home to eat. It was like uncooked DONUTS with flimsy, tiny shrimp buried somewhere inside the gummy dough and a side of canned sauce!

Absolutely appalling!!!

But it was late. I was tired, I hadn't eaten all day, and I didnt want to go through the trouble of leaving my house again so I tried to eat it-- digging the micro shrimp out of the massive dough and leaving the doughy remains in the box.

About 5 shrimp in, my stomach was literally starting to turn and i just couldn't force myself to eat one more bite.

I called them and told them what I was dealing with and they told me to bring it back. I got up, left my house, got BACK in my car and drove ALL the way BACK, only to have them get COMBATIVE with me about having eaten some of it!

They were SO DISRESPECTFUL! SO UNBELIEVABLY PETTY! They didnt even want to EXCHANGE it for anything else! I had to NEGOTIATE for a PARTIAL ORDER of something else!!!

Can you believe that??!

VERY VERY BAD BUSINESS AND TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE!

I called the neighbor who I knew had eaten there before and she said she'd only ever gotten ONE thing from there. Imagine! A whole restaurant with only ONE decent thing!

I will NEVER go there again and I don't recommend anyone else waste there money, time or self...

So i ordered the bourbon (shimp) lunch special and combo wonton egg drop soup, go inside to pick up and the price was $10 and change so as i hand the lady at the counter $11 i ask if she had and chili sauce so she puts my change that she was going to hand me back in the drawer as she hands me the sauce(whatever) and then i look in the bag and state no coke inside as i asked (because you either get egg roll or coke with the lunch special) and she says i put egg roll in bag and i just shrug and it's alright i'll eat the egg roll, so i go back to work (about a block away) and start unpacking the contents and see that there is no egg roll as she said in the container, so now i realized that she just lied and if i wasn't only a block away i would have just let it go but i thought she lied on purpose and so i go back and tell her that there was no egg roll in the bag and she shrugs and rolls her eyes and says get your coke (wow really) she knew that she didn't put in bag, they lost some business today because the food was actually pretty good but i can't go back with that kind of attitude. Oh and by the way they gave me bourbon chicken instead of the shrimp as i ordered, so beware when ordering and check EVERYTHING...

Just a short drive west down sunset point from US19 ... Located in the Time Plaza just passed Hercules Road ... You will find one of the best if not the best Chinese restaurant in Pinellas County Florida ... Professional and Polite family owned business (This is a big deal for me , In a world filled with rudeness , This business and more importantly their staff are always welcoming) ... Serving portions well worth the price ... Very timely on cook times as well ... Heres a perfect example of what I mean here ... I have a large family of 6 and whenever we order ... Its ready in no less than 25 minutes ... About the same time it takes to navigate Clearwater's traffic from my house off 590 (coachman) to pick up our order ... So if you live in the Clearwater / Tampa Bay area and are looking for a great Chinese restaurant ... I Highly Recommend giving China88 a try ... You wont be disappointed ......
