This used to be an enjoyable experience to visit but the last few times have not been so fun. Half the time the slides are closed, the lazy river is crowded, and there's not enough covered areas or umbrella for shade, and you can't bring your own umbrella! Yesterday, there was way too many people in the pool, I don't see how the lifeguards can keep an eye on so many, especially with all the chaos, splashing, etc. The diving boards are closed and I didn't see anybody going on the small slides next to diving boards either. I got in the pool with my baby and tried to find a space away from the chaos, but once we started getting splashed by a group of kids having a splash war...I got out. Went to the front kiddie area and sat there in a foot of water, much calmer. However, after the pool break and even though people started leaving cuz it was 7pm...I just was over it and didn't even want to get back in the pool, the pool was cloudy too And to think it's supposed to be nice here, but for the price, it's disappointing. You might as well just go to the Winston City pools and save some money. Speaking of money...$4 for an ice cream is ridiculous and no discount for kids over 5 years old is ridiculous, especially when half the stuff they could do is closed. I love the park but the pool... they need to do better, and as someone else stated in another review, where are the adult employees or manager? Everybody looks like a teenager, and my friend had asked a girl lifeguard about it being busy and the girl told her, it's packed everyday and the kids are bad. She told my friend that she leaves there angry and stressed. I honestly think this should be a membership pool only. Tanglewood, do...
Read moreI am very upset about my family’s visit today. My family of 6 visited the aquatic center today. We arrived about 2pm, it rained from 2:00-2:15, stopped and we swam from 2:15-3:00, it started to rain again but stopped about 3:15, no thunder or lightning but they never allowed us back in, said we wouldn’t be able to swim until maybe 6 if they didn’t close, and we could wait. We waiting until 4:15ish and decided to leave, asked about a rain check and they said no they didn’t do it if it was after 4, did not bother to mention that when asked if they would open back up before 4 even though there was no rain. Also the one time we did get in the water, at the lazy river, most of the lifeguards were floating around, the water slides were running but no lifeguard there so we asked, the girl asked the manager who was floating in the river and he said no they weren’t going to open them, even though all the lifeguards were not busy or at a stand, and were also rude. They were talking to each other and people that it seemed like they knew and saying inappropriate words with children around. I am extremely upset by my visit, we have been in the past years and it was wonderful, the children were so sad they barely got to swim, and couldn’t even go down the...
Read moreWe used to love coming to this pool. Yesterday, our experience was below par: the lifeguards were rude, the water smelled foul, there were way too many people, the shaded areas were minimal, many of the young kids were having to slightly run because the pavement was so boiling hot (and the lifeguards didn’t really understand that) and were yelled at for hopping/running, the people next to us were blasting their speaker (with offensive music) (I think speakers shouldn’t be allowed), and really, I was glad when our visit was over. We stayed four hours.
The facility itself (like the bathrooms, etc.) seemed pretty clean. But, it being summer break, there were so many people it wasn’t as enjoyable… and I’m not sure why the water smelled the way it did, but after swimming underwater for a few short moments and then coming back up, all I could smell was fish after that.
I hope Tanglewood will put some sort of additional water cleaning measures in place, coach the lifeguards to be less rude to these children, enforce a “no speaker” rule, and put up additional shade...
