Ingenuity is a well run festival, with a diversity of ideas on display and great musical acts and presentations. I believe there is a missed opportunity though on the science side of the equation. Cleveland is the home of so much innovation in a variety of fields. I enjoyed my experience, but it was essentially a Fringe Festival with two or three booths that wouldn't be found in any other city. I would love it if Cleveland's science community were more engaged with Ingenuity. I think it would be a win win win situation if they were. Where was the Cleveland Clinic, where was Case, Baldwin Wallace, CSU? Where was the aviation industry, the manufacturing industry,(yes, makers were there, but big firms were unrepresented) bio-tech, medical, heck, we are leaders in the beer industry! Maybe some of those orgs were represented, but not the science aspect of them as far as I could tell. Ingenuity offers those organizations an engagement with the community at large, as well as engagement with their own employees that is not available in any other venue. IRL. If they can jump that hurdle, this could be a world class event. People would fly from afar to see it. As it is, it's a...
Read moreThis was my first Ingenuity Bal. We went on a double-date. We will attend next year and you should also. Obvious effort was put into making the place look dream-like and they did a good job matching this theme. The music was great- you can't go wrong with a brass band- and if you haven't checked out Lady Uno, look her up on YouTube. My only criticism is that they only had one bar and only 3 porta potties for the entire affair- not ingenious. Maybe I can let 'only one bar' slide because the bar queue was located in front of performers. However, it would have been better to have had too many porta potties rather than not enough; also, the bathroom wash water (stored in tanks because no running water in this year's event location) was depleted early. Also the music they played between performances in the bar area was so loud that you had to almost shout to talk. These were just minor inconveniences, but hopefully someone there reads this and plans a little bit better next year. We'll see, because we're coming back next...
Read moreIngenuity is the annual three-day festival at the Ingenuity lab in Cleveland. It showcases many different artists, musicians, and performers in the Cleveland and greater surrounding area. It's a wonderful thing for people of all ages, there are many Interactive displays and art exhibits for everyone to play with.
This year there was a ball pit, a very large Plinko style machine. Also the number of art exhibits and tunnels that you could walk through along with any area where you could do your own painting.
One of my friends owns a performance art and dance studio and choreographed a new show that they did each evening across multiple levels on the one stage. Another friend with his group they could teach you how to solder together a small electronic device that was basically a flashing pin you could stick on your shirt.
They were all so many different local restaurants and food trucks Vending food during the event. All in all it's definitely worth the price of admission to go down for at...
