I am a repeat customer who went there for lunch today. The food is fantastic. So is the service.
But donât even think about walking your dog or yourself on the garbage strewn vacant lot with gaping holes in the fence next to the diner. The owner must have radar or something because he came out of the diner as we were coming back to the car and scolded me for walking my dog on his garbage strewn vacant lot because there was a keep out sign outside closer to the end of the lot near the other parking lot. Maybe you should pay more attention to your customers and the management of your restaurant then surveying a vacant lot.
Note to the owner: Move the keep outside to the part of the vacant lot that is adjacent to your parking lot or get another keep outside and place it there. I didnât even see it till we were already 2/3 of the way into the lot and it looked like it was keep out of the property on the other side of the vacant lot Fix the fence and clean up the garbage in the lot? Remove the dead bodies, buried treasure or whatever else is so precious in that lot that it could be harmed by somebody walking their dog.
I donât know why you had to be such a jerk about it. There were much more civil and polite ways to inform somebody that a lot is your property and please stay off of it. Iâm not a freaking child.
Too bad because the restaurant is excellent. Iâm a senior citizen and donât need to be talked down to like a child by some uptight...

First time in, I got the corned beef hashâand let me tell you, I ascended. It was crispy, savory, and so good I almost proposed to the plate. The second time? I didnât even care what I orderedâI just knew itâd be made with love and probably a sprinkle of magic. Spoiler alert: it was.
But listenâthe food is only half the story. The real MVPs? The staff. These folks donât just serve food, they serve vibes. Theyâre warm, attentive, and somehow manage to make you feel like a regular by your second visit. I half expected them to hand me a "Welcome Home" banner with my check.
Atmosphere: cozy and inviting. Food: flavor-packed soul food greatness. Staff: 10/10, would trust them to babysit my plants and pick my wedding playlist.
If you're anywhere near Cleveland and not eating at Dinner on 55th... what are you even...
Read moreThis has been a staple in Cleveland for a long time so I've been going there for years. The service is great. The food is great. The atmosphere is relaxing - and great. The prices are affordable, and the food NEVER disappoints. The owner is a pleasant guy that always greets you with a smile. He will make your day regardless of what kind of mood you're in. And the servers are fun and nice to be around. They're professional, efficient, outgoing, and pay special attention to you, even if it's really busy in the restaurant. The menu is simple small, but hey it's a diner! (A great dinner by the way) So what would you expect? If you've never been here you have to try it. It's conveniently located on the corner of E. 55th Street and St. Clair, and about a mile off the freeway and the lake front. If it's crowded, don't worry you won't have to wait long. This is a place you have...
