St Martin De Porres, has always helped, taught, developed, and understood the needs of the community. I grew up being a Martin De Porres kid. From little league softball, dance, and summer camp to becoming a teenager and being apart of a teen program that sponsored local trips, like: Karumu and Play House plays, to Annual trips to HBCU's which allowed me to experience the White house, Howard U, Spellman, Black Wax Museum in Maryland and FAMU. Not only that I was able to do community service there after getting 2 many tickets as a youth driver. They are also a meeting place for foster kids and their biological parents to meet with them. They give food, clothes, gifts during Christmas. They cater to the elderly and ppl in recovery. They host AA meeting. Finally, My cousin who is very particular with her children, with my convincing, signed her children up for summer camp this past summer (2023,) and she absolutely loved it. She was so impressed with all the activities and daily field trips etc. So I was happy to hear that even though, I'm sure they don't have the money, grants and sponsors they had in the 90's, they are still keeping there good reputation and going all out...
