Berkot's Super Foods — Local services in Coal City

Cashier was very kind. The boys bagging groceries need to be trained what goes in what bags. They put my vine tomatoes on the bottom and put in 6 baker potatoes, my 3 poud bag of gala apples and my peaches. My tomatoes were squashed. Then I had 3 bags of assorted buns, bread, and 2 bagel bags shoved in 2 bags. You always give ur bread room to breathe so my 2 pkgs got squashed too. I talked to the Manager Gary I used to be an assistant manager for years there before it became berkots. It's all in the training to have happy customers. I usually bag my own when I shop but I didn't today. Gary said he would handle it. I also told him I stopped at the deli for a fresh honey tender bucket but they were 2hrs and 20min into the bucket so I asked the fryer guy to make me some fresh, he said no problem it will be around 7 min. I went back about 10 min and the gentleman says oh ur the lady who wanted the honey tenders. I said yes he said he was sorry to say that he didn't cook any because he didn't really know how many I wanted. I discussed what was fresher the bucket I was holding or what was in the warmer in the foil pan. That shows how much he was paying attention to what I was asking for. So I said just forget it. He said he was sorry, I said well that just makes me want to go somewhere else. What happened to an intercom or come our behind the counter and go find the customer? I was very dissapointed cause I love the honey tenders and always get a bucket of them when I shop. Just thought I would share my customer experience with u. A fine grocery. Great selection of general items, but they stock specialty and some brands I usually see further north. They offer a nice choice of dairy and many and packages of beer and wine. I was impressed with the produce dept. also I was able to quickly purchase dinner items and my favorite wine to serve also. The bread and bakery choices are appealing and every choice I have tried was delicious. Berkots is close to my new home. That's was one thing I always check out before I move. I don't have to shop there, but I do. I hope to try most of their locations in time. With colder weather coming I will enjoy the location even more. Employees are polite and helpful. That's always important too. I'm going to Berkots right now. If you want a friendly store without searching take my advice and try Berkots. Even if it's just to grab their yummy...

I love this store, Nothing like walking into you're hometown supermarket with welcoming employee's smiles on there faces and always a very cheerful bunch. Everytime I have gone into the store I have been greeted in the store by a employee with a smile, that says they treat workers right. I love there selection of produce it's Hugh and prices that won't break your wallet, the deli counter has a large variety of lunch meats plus they serve hot food also. THE BUTCHER has beautiful cuts of Steaks and chicken Chops, or Ribs you Can't say there's not something for everyone's taste bud's. Top it off the Liquor line is a very nice selection at very good prices also, so very clean friendly welcoming staff and a variety of food and drink to please the whole family this store is a #1AAA ...
