I've been craving Mexican food for months now and a friend recommended this place to me so I thought I'd give it a try. I placed a carry out order so I don't have much to say about service (except they said they could have 2 combos ready in 5-10 minutes... that's impressive!) The place itself looked very bright, colorful and clean. I liked the atmosphere... for the most part. I did NOT like that when I walked into the front door that I was basically standing at someone else's table. Talk about awkward. The layout in respect to that front door was very weird. I found it odd that the cash register is adjacent from the only entrance and exit to the bar. So if you're paying and someone wants to exit or enter the bar, you basically have to move. I order The Patron Combo. A burrito, enchilada, chile relleno and a taco. Everything was good, except the chile. The breading was very thick and it tasted like it was fried in 3 year old grease. I could not taste anything aside from that old oil flavor. Even the super tomatoey sauce on top was just killed by the taste of grease. The chips also tasted like they were fried in old grease. Maybe it would have been better fresh? Unfortunately, I don't foresee myself ordering it again.

All things considered, I would eat here again and I would recommend it. BUT! I've had...

DO NOT EAT HERE, only alcoholic drinks. I been sick for days! I had the salsa and chips and simple shredded chicken nachos. The chicken tasted like tuna out a can and smelled like canned chicken. It had no seasoning. I took few bites then got to chicken gagged I tried to eat the chips with the cheese and legit I could not. My friends food was sea food shrimp so you really can eat that raw.

I have had stomach issues ever since will be goin to quick care of it don’t stop. Do not eat here they are not good at any of they meals

The waiter kept rushing me to order. Right when he dropped off menus he askin for the order. Then gave us tops 3 min when we asked for more time.

They mango margaritas was orange margaritas no mango in it At all tasted like straight up orange juice with chamoy some mango flavoring possibly but all the other stuff over powered it.

Too much time for yall to be cookin that bad in coal city Illinois

Terrible I’ll be postin on all...

Our first time stopping in at El Patron Mexican Restaurant. We really had no idea this restaurant was in Coal City. But the truth be told, we were going to a pizza restaurant in town when we happened upon El Patrons. Both my wife and I will take a good Mexican meal oven pizza most of the time. We definitely were not disappointed. Both of our meals were excellent. The service was much better than we expected. The atmosphere is very laid back. The prices are very reasonable for the size of the meals. All in all, we will most definitely be returning customers. We do highly recommend this restaurant El Patron Mexican restaurant when you are passing through Coal City, IL. and your tummy is saying, "Please Feed Me." As always, please be safe in your travels and always take time to get out and not only smell the roses but also have...

El Patron blows them all out of the water!! Excellent Spanish music, excellent vibrant decor just takes you to México! Excellent options for lent too! The shrimp cocktail is soooo good!!! This will always be my go to place when visiting family in Coal City!! Gracias El Patron!!!

Service is friendly and attentive and even when they are busy, the food doesn't take more than 20mins. Chips & salsa and large keep kids entertained. Specials change daily. My favorite is the mango margarita. The steak and chicken dishes are outstanding. I love the El Patron CheeseSteak, covered in white queso sauce! A must try. Steak or chicken fajitas also excellent. Not one thing to say about this place, it is on point and affordable.
