I have a Lisfranc fracture 5 metatarsal fractures in one foot. I recently underwent a complicated ORIF surgery. My doctor placed an order for Percocet, on Friday 3 days after. The medication I urgently need for my post-operative recovery, as he wanted to ensure I remained medication-compliant.
[ ] My wife went to the pharmacy around 9:30am, and we were told, “We will contact you in about an hour to let you know if the order is ready to pick up. Maybe it will be ready.”
We called again at 10:58a.m. and were placed on hold for 20 minutes with background music. When someone finally answered, they said, “Your order should be ready in about an hour.” We called yet again around 2:15pm, the pharm tech again mentioned “check back again within and hour.” We then called 6pm with no answer, and put on hold for another 25 minutes.
What followed was a carousel of abhorrent listless customer service and dismissive behavior. When we called back again, the phone rang endlessly, was picked up, and then immediately hung up—this happened for another 20 minutes.
Eventually, a new pharmacy technician picked up during the afternoon shift and quickly asked for all my information, hastily saying “cash or insurance?.” In the background, we could hear him asking another coworker, “Do we put this workers’ compensation in the system?”
We then asked, “Can we come down to pick up our order? We have all the information for my workers’ comp.” In a hurried tone, he replied, “Yes, yes, just come down.”
When we arrived, it felt like we were trying to crack the world’s greatest mystery—something out of The Da Vinci Code. After all that wasted time, we were told we could not pick up the medication because it required prior authorization from my insurance.
This entire situation could have been handled quickly, professionally, and with basic human kindness. Instead, we were met with misinformation, delays, and incompetence. We have since filed a complaint with corporate.
For the record, we had zero issues picking up my medication at the Atascadero Walgreens, where the prescription was handled without incident. If your health depends on your prescription here good luck; I would go stir clear and save...
Read moreUp date: This pharmacy likes to gaslight you. I dropped off my prescription 2 weeks ago and barely got it today. Pharmacy was pointing the finger at my doctor's office for denying it. I called my doctor's office, and they said they approved them. I went back and forth between them at least three 4x. Then, a tech at Walgreens told me it was my insurance that denied it due to needing a doctor's medical rationale for use. I called my doctor once again and they told me this is not true. Past angry, I waited an additional day and called this morning to find out Walgreens made 2 profiles for me. I had my old one from many years and a new one. The medication was approved under my original profile. I picked up the medication this afternoon. Then, a few hours later, I got a missed call from Walgreens, so I called them to see what they needed. The lady on the phone said they did not have any calls made to my phone. I can s reen shot for them, but they didn't want it. Now, this lady in pharmacy tells me my medication was dynied, and I need to call my doctor again. What??? I just picked it up earlier. Do I need to say any more. To bad this is the only pharmacy in town. All my other meds come from Optum mail order with no problems
WalGreens Coalinga used to be a good pharmacy for wait time when picking up your prescription. Not lately, today I was second in line for drive-thru pick up, and it took 40 minutes to talk to someone in the pharmacy. Last month, I waited 38 minutes in the drive-thru to find I had to come back the next day. Don't even try to call and speak to someone in the pharmacy they never answer the phone either. One day, I was told by a pharmacy tech to be patient because I was one of 300 orders they were behind on. I placed that order 4 days prior to stopping in person. If you're overworked, maybe look at...
Read moreExcellent pharmacy! This pharmacy should consider cleaning out their over the counter medicine and not have expired medicine in their medicine counters. But it has some grocery items that are expired. The pharmacy should accept prescription medication needs from people with CalViva not just for people with medical insurance. The employees are friendly and will help out with no problem. Unlike Rite Aid, you feel welcomed here. It will always be my...
