The lady who runs this store did not come off like she wanted to sell me anything. I went in there looking for something to buy my mom for mother's Day who collects antique toys. Upon finding something that my mom would love she told me she was saving it for her grandson and that she didn't think it was worth much. When I proceeded to tell her I wasn't worried about the value and that I wanted to buy it for my mom for mother's day as that's what she collects she proceeded to make me feel like it was weird that I wanted to buy it for my mom and that she was uninterested in even trying to help me. Why would you put something on display if you don't want to sell it? Needless to say I won't be back and I won't take my mom in there either even though she's been wanting to check them out every time she comes to visit. By the window on Haddon Ave, you might think that Ellis Antiques is a quaint neighborhood shop. Upon bringing items in for a possible sale, after many phone conversations, that we're both valuable and with history, you soon realize that she isn't buying anything to sell in her store. It really is more of an eBay brokerage or spot where she contacts auction houses and tries to make a huge profit on your items. She constantly tries to undervalue yr items, even with some documentation and explains how commissions are at least 50% if not more. Luckily, I did not leave any items in the shop, but did leave in good faith pictures of other things which she haphazardly lost & couldn't find. Extremely unprofessional and not worth wasting your time if you're thinking of selling valued items. Go directly to galleries or reputable auction houses....

The owners are nothing but kind and gracious here! They are extremely educated and absolutely fascinating to talk to. When you visit this shop you will be met with the upmost respect and they treat you like family! I don't know anyone who has ever had a bad experience here!
