I had a load to pick up at 7600 #C. My paperwork said it was ASR Group. I stayed at the TA truck stop on Assateague. The TA was pay to park but it’s so difficult finding parking in this area I figured I better do that. It was nice that they were so close to the shipper. ASR Group has a very small sign on Assateague. The 7600 building has several other businesses in there so you can’t see ASR from the street. The turn into the driveway is kinda challenging with that median there. I saw someone turn into the exit lane which is probably an easier turn but a lot of trucks are back and forth so that’s most likely not a great option. Once you turn, go almost to the end of the street and you will see a guard shack on the left and a small stop sign. Stop there and go inside with your paperwork. Security will take your info including phone number and give you a paper to fill out for the dock staff. If you aren’t given a door right away, you will be asked to park in that middle area between the guard shack and the front docks. There is plenty of parking room. There are also docks around to the right side of their building so it depends on what door number you get where you will eventually be situated. My door was around the side of the building. There is ample room to set up and back up. Back in with doors open and tandems back. Disconnect red air line. My appointment was at 1700. I arrived at 1616. They gave me a door within 15 minutes of arrival. An employee came outside to the truck and took that paper that was filled out. He also came outside when they were finished and gave me the BOL and seal to take to security. The security guard on the way in was really busy trying to multi task with phone calls, radio and check ins. He didn’t have much time for questions. The guy on the way out was pretty chill and everyone there was nice. On the way out stop at the gate where indicated and security will check your documents and watch you put the seal on....
Read moreTruckers beware! This place should be negative 10 stars. Yet another example of an extremely poorly managed warehouse. It took 2 hours after checking in before I was even assigned a door. At a well-managed WH, I would already have been loaded and on my way. Instead, I then sat at the door for 6 hours until an employee finally came out to lock out my trailer. That's 8 full hours from check-in until someone actually started to do some kind of work on my load. The employee warned that it would be a few hours until I was loaded. So Im looking at 10 to 12 hours sitting on this property waiting for some very simple work to be done. No restrooms. No food. The load was scheduled for delivery 500 miles away at 6 am. It's after 11 pm and still waiting. So it will be 2 days before delivery can be made. I worked shipping and receiving for 27 years before I started commercial driving. I averaged 20 trucks per 8 hour shift. There is no excuse for this level of ineptitude. Everyone here, from the owner on down, should be ashamed of themselves. There's no way I would allow this. The funny part is that they are driving their own shipping rates through the roof, which leaves much less money for employee raises and capital projects. They only hurt themselves by being so poor...
Read moreI arrived the night before and parked at the right hand curb near their guardhouse. The male officer who was wrapped up in a basketball game either on tv or radio couldn’t be more interested in dealing with me or telling me that my truck wasn’t parked in a favorable spot, as it’d be in the way the following morning. Nor could the female officer who began her shift not long after I’d returned to my truck, but I think it was her who came to my truck around 0815 this morning beating on the side of my truck like it was fire screaming she was getting ready to call the police and that I needed to move. I asked her why nobody said anything the evening before, she repeated the threat of calling the police, turned her nose up and walked back to her shack. Rude folks like her are why this region will find it...
