Hiegel Supply — Local services in Conway

My girlfriend lost her entire key ring. I had done plenty of business with Hiegel Supply in the past and took her spare key and my last house key to have them copied. The brilliant gentleman who copied her key put my key into the blank slot. He etched her new key onto mine which made me incapable of getting into my house as all doors use the same key.

Arriving at Hiegel Supply to complain was beyond intolerable. It should be noted that my hour and a half attempts with the broken key and to de-ice the locks all occurred when it was 20 degrees and falling (not accounting for windchill.) I went into this store demanding they make it right. I don't believe it be beyond reason to have them pay for a locksmith to allow me to enter my own home. They did in fact destroy my key.

They repeatedly denied my statements and said there was nothing they could do. They also refused to tell me their names. My intention was to speak to a manager or owner regarding their behavior. I informed that I could in fact prove they damaged my key beyond repair and would send a locksmith bill with an attorney. This is the instance this company moved from incompetent to criminal behavior.

A customer who was male in his 40s (man being inappropriate for such a person) physically attacked me as a result of my complaints. He blindsided pushed me and being rather weak was incapable of knocking me down. It should also be noted that I mentioned at the desk my medication was locked in my house since they broke my key and that I am recovering from extensive surgery.

The staff at Hiegel not only tolerated this criminal assault, but actively encouraged it. The individual who pushed me followed me into the parking lot and yelled that he was "fixin' to drop me." As soon as I raised a guard to get ready for his "fixin'," he darted back into the store and hid behind his children. Yes, a 35-40 year old person used a couple of small children as shields. Provided this particular individual reads this or quite a bit more likely for his level has somebody read it to him very slowly, that stands as the most cowardly thing I have witnessed or witness in my life. Hide behind children. I have no doubt that children will not always be around to be your human shields, so I recommend you learn some manners..

This is the kind of treatment you can expect from Hiegel. Do yourself a favor and find a hardware store that is not run by a bunch of rednecks who resort to violence rather than admitting fault. Hiegel Supply is the sort of place that kills faith in small businesses. You can get far superior service, far better prices, and far better products at any of the other hardware stores in Conway, AR. Any company that encourages physical assault, damages your property, and will not make things right deserves nothing. Do not waste your money. Even the large chain hardware stores have more competent staff in this city.
