Off the Avenue Antiques — Local services in Coraopolis

I actually love this place and it's on my antiques rotation - aka. I've spent a lot of $ here over the years. However, my last visit left a sour taste in my mouth.

A woman followed me around the store, approaching and rudely asking if I needed help with something (I don't even know how you do that rudely, but it was seriously off putting lol), and then chased me down when I picked up a brooch that was just out in the open (not in a case) that I wanted to buy. She very loudly said "Excuse me, you have to leave all the jewelry on the counter at the counter" (this has never been the case, there's no sign, and this is not a normal policy fo a retail store), so I gave her the item. Then, she asked me in an accusatory way if I'd taken anything else. I threw my hands up so she could see I literally had nothing in them.

Seriously, I have NEVER been treated like that in a retail store in my life. I can't imagine I'll be back for a while if ever. There are plenty of other places where I don't feel like I'm being accused of theft and accosted...

I've been to dozens of antique shops around the tri-state area. This shop was well organized and clean. However the inventory was lacking and bland, offering nothing unique or interesting that you can't find at any flea market. Mostly modern kitchenware and cottage core with some vintage pieces and pyrex scattered about. Prices were higher than they should be on basic items, and the shop owners were not willing to haggle or offer any discount. Also the shop owners were rude and seemed annoyed that there were customers in the store. Last but not least, when I asked to use the restroom, they told me to go to McDonald's down the street... would not recommend this shop, there are plenty of more interesting shops in the Pittsburgh area with friendlier staff and...

Many hours have been spent browsing this store. I love the selection! Im currently hoping nobody bought a cabinet i fell in love with, but did not buy last time i was in... I really wish i can pay by phone, or put my credit card on file so i can order over the phone... The last couple of pieces i bought without my significant other seeing them, but he was very happy with them when i sent him to pick them them up. The kids love when the owners dog is in the shop otherwise they find the place very dull because they cant walk around or touch anything.
