An Unforgettable Wild Horse Adventure (with Room for Enhancement) Our Wild Horse Tour was largely a fantastic experience, particularly thanks to our guide, Amanda, who was absolutely exceptional. Her knowledge and passion truly shone. To make her invaluable contributions even more impactful for all guests, I'd highly recommend installing additional speakers at the rear of the vehicle. This would ensure everyone can fully appreciate her commentary. While the overall experience was good, there were a couple of areas that could elevate it to extraordinary. The long drive to the beach entrance, for instance, felt a bit drawn out. Injecting some interactive elements, perhaps through photos or a structured narrative, could transform this segment into a more engaging part of the adventure. Finally, there seemed to be a communication breakdown among the various drivers. We found ourselves traversing the same road three times, which unfortunately wasted precious exploration time and gave the impression of a somewhat uncoordinated, "hopeless search." Streamlining this aspect would undoubtedly lead to a more efficient and rewarding tour for everyone.
The Wild Horse Tour offered a captivating glimpse into the local ecosystem, and our guide, Amanda, was a true standout—simply exceptional. Her insights were invaluable, though I believe her contributions could be even more meaningful if additional speakers were installed at the rear of the vehicle, ensuring every passenger benefits from her expertise. Overall, it was an okay experience, but certain elements could significantly enhance its appeal. The extended drive to the beach entrance could be optimized; perhaps integrating photos or a more interactive structure would transform this transit into a more stimulating part of the journey. A noticeable point of improvement lies in inter-driver communication. We experienced a frustrating repetition of routes, driving down the same road three times. This not only consumed valuable exploration time but also created a sense of a disorganized search. Better coordination would undoubtedly lead to a smoother and more immersive wild...

First and foremost, I want to recognize Raine. She was absolutely wonderful in helping me set up our tour. She walked me through every detail to ensure we were prepared.. making sure my five-year-old son had his booster seat, that we used the restroom in advance, and that we chose the best time and day for our trip. She has such a kind, sweet spirit and went above and beyond to make sure we felt confident and excited about the experience.
When we arrived, check-in was smooth and pleasant. The team upstairs in the shop was equally fantastic.. warm, funny, and genuinely welcoming. The shop itself was spotless, and unlike many tourist spots we visited in North Carolina, they didn’t price gouge. Being able to grab a water and a bag of chips for my son for just $2 was such a refreshing surprise.
The highlight of our experience was, without question, our tour with Rick, our driver. He went above and beyond in every way, helping us get settled into the Humvee, making my son comfortable in his booster seat, and sharing fascinating insights about the area and the wild horses. His knowledge and patience were unmatched, and it was clear how deeply he cares for the horses and their well-being. He knew exactly where to look, gave us incredible photo opportunities, and answered all of our questions with ease. Even when my son fell asleep mid-tour, Rick made sure that when he woke up, he still got to see a baby horse and a couple of adults before we wrapped up. That level of thoughtfulness meant so much.
I went into this experience not really being a “horse person,” but I left so grateful we did it. Seeing the wild horses in their natural habitat with my family was unforgettable, and I know we owe much of that to Rick’s heart and expertise, Raine’s incredible planning support, and the friendly staff at the office.
If you’re considering booking, don’t hesitate. And if you can, ask for Rick as your tour driver. You won’t regret it.
Thank you, Wild Horse Adventure Tours, for an incredible memory we’ll...
Read moreWe went on the wild horse adventure tour. It was an amazing experience. Our guides name is Richard. He was very informative and was an amazing driver on the sand highway that he had to drive on. We had 6 people in our party and the tour vehicles are older military hummers. The hummer could carry up to 13 passengers comfortably.
The tour lasted well over 2 hours. We got to see several Colonial Spanish wild horses that were left on the island from ship wrecks on the island 500 years ago. But humans are invading the wild horse habitat. Big commercial developers are moving in buying up the land and building condos in the wild horse management areas.
These wild horses are the last of there kind. But man and the greed for money are wanting these horses to be eliminated from that area so the wealthy can have a place to come vacation in an area that they need to stay out of. Humans have destroyed our planet in so many ways. These horses are very intelligent and amazing animals. They adapt to whatever environment they are subjected to. If you go to Corolla and see these horses up close, please leave them alone. Do not approach them.
They are wild and will bite you or kick you if you get too close and invade their territory or space. Do not feed them anything especially apples. Apples will choke them and they will suffocate because they will eat the apples whole and not chew them.
LEAVE THEM ALONE!! HELP SUPPORT THE EFFORT TO KEEP THESE HORSES WILD AND KEEP THEIR ENVIRONMENT FROM BEING TAKEN OVER BY GREEDY INVESTMENT COMPANIES.
Please support the Wild Horse Adventure Tours. Part of the proceeds goes to buy land that these horses are on to help keep them wild. They want to buy up the land to keep commercial development out so these horses can have a place to live.
If you love wild horses and don’t want to see them evicted please support this effort to save these wild horses.
The Currituck county makes millions of dollars from the development companies in commercial property taxes. It’s all about the money.
Currently there are 110 to 115...
