Island Smoothie — Restaurant in Corolla

I have been coming here the last couple of years since vacationing in The Currituck Club and absolutely look forward to the açaí bowls and smoothies. The staff is friendly and super patient with indecisive customers. There are so many great choices it’s hard to choose. The only thing keeping me from giving this a 5 star rating is that this year I was very disappointed at the açaí bowls. Compared to years past, they were lacking. At $11.99 a pop plus $1 for each extra topping plus tip, I expected more. I remember being able to see the layer of granola over the açaí purée and then a bountiful amount of fruit on top, but not this year. It was just a sprinkle of granola. The owner of the Corolla location began taking photos of my 16&18 yo daughters as they were waiting for their smoothies to be prepared. My youngest noticed at the last minute and saw her orange shorts in the photo from a distance. She immediately addressed him and demanded he delete the photos He proceeded to tell her to come into the bathroom with him, which she refused and he began shaking uncontrollably. I advised the girls to call the police immediately, which they did. The police were very responsive and professional. My friends and I stumbled upon Island Smoothie on a road trip and proceeded to return 4 times in our 3 day stay in Corolla! I had the blueberry bliss smoothie, the ocean breeze acai bowl with added peanut butter, and the turkey avocado sandwich—all of which were fresh and delicious! Not only was the food awesome, but the staff was SO friendly! They were willing to recommend smoothies and explain what was in them.
