Small store, decent prices—but be prepared to gamble on meat and produce quality.** They're consistently short-staffed, and signage (when it exists) is either hard to find or confusing.
There are some standout employees—like the younger guy with piercings or the upbeat older gentleman—who consistently go above and beyond. Unfortunately, they seem to be the exception rather than the rule.
Twice now, I’ve had unpleasant run-ins with an older female employee named Amy (you'll know her by the neck tattoo and attitude). The first time, she got snippy because I didn’t notice a tiny, badly placed “No Mastercard” sign taped to the belt, scolding me with, “It’s posted, you should already know.” As if I’m supposed to have X-ray vision.
The second time, I bought a paper bag and took my groceries off the line to load them myself. She rolled her eyes and mockingly groaned when I didn’t follow her unspoken system. When I politely asked if there was a problem, she repeated her point like she hadn’t just been condescending. Someone missed out on a few accountability lessons growing up—and that’s saying something, coming from a shelter kid.
I’ve been shopping here since I was a teen. It’s the only spot nearby with decent chorizo and Cuban bread, and I want to keep coming back. But it’s hard to support a place where only a handful of people actually care, and others act like they’re too bold for their...

Read moreThis is the first time I’ve ever been to Save a Lot. I live in Northern Virginia and we do not have them there. Upon entering the store I noticed the selection was limited which wasn’t too bad for me considering I came for soda and a few snack items. Prices were reasonable and displayed accurately. The cashier Ella Mae was absolutely horrible. She was ridiculously unprofessional, snatched my money and didn’t bother to say hello. When the customer behind me asked where the candied yams were, she YELLED this exact response, “Uh what!? I don’t know lady, look in the cereal isle” and proceeded to exhale loudly. I asked her if she was able to bag my items (not knowing Save a Lot does not bag items) she responded by shouting at me, “We charge for bags so you’re on your own; Next!” I’m thankful I do not live in the area so that I wouldn’t be forced to come to this store. Customer service is priority and here it lacks....
