This is a gorgeous course, well maintained, with simple but well designed holes that provide either an obstacle or a chance to throw long shots from a hilltop. It plays as a par course for an intermediate player, and has several open spaces to practice drives nearby.
There are a couple of downsides to the course that didn't bother me personally, but I could see other taking issue with. First, because they had to get creative in hole placement to fit it around the creek, parts of the course are very confusing. I played there for the first time today, and I don't know where holes 3,4, and 5 are. Hole 12 is hidden in the woods, and I'm unsure if this is an 18 hole course as 15 was the last hole I saw. Second, the tee pads are mostly not flat concrete, and there was one that was fabric on top of lumpy ground that seemed like it was a good place to roll your ankle. Ultimately I felt that the missed holes and less than perfect tee pads didn't detract from the experience, and I really enjoyed...
Read moreThe city has done a very good job improving the disc golf course here over the last two years. Sadly, they have elected to leave the majority of the over grown greenery, specifically on holes 7, 8, 9, 11 and 16. Talking with many experienced players, this makes these holes not ejoyable and often times unplayable, regardless of how good your drive is.
I understand the idea of not cutting it for wildlife, but there needs to be a better middle ground, more than just a slim fairway. Those from the city who have voted on this, do not understand how this impacts one of the parks main attractions. There is plenty of field space to leave greenery long that doesn’t have to overtake the playable area on these five holes. Do the math, it makes almost 1/3 of the entire course unnecessarily un-enjoyable.
There are numerous other parks that have adopted a wider range of play and their player satisfaction and consistency...
Read moreSorry to say that the wacko-environmentalists are destroying this course. The if we don't mow the course we can restore the prairie and save a lot of money, while saving mother. This course was a regular stop in my course rotations in the Twin Cities, but now is off my summer list for sure. They did not restore any prairie, they just let the non-native grasses and weeds take over the course, only mowing a 20 foot fairway that doesn't look like it is mowed very often. Good throws in the past are now in hip high grass and burdock and some holes have foliage hanging down around baskets that ruin putting strokes. I have played at this course since 1994, but it's more trouble than it's worth now. There are other courses that are more user friendly in the area that still...
