In town visiting family, thought we'd grab a bite at a local diner. I love hole in the wall places and thought this looked cute online. My boyfriend and I sat ourselves, as the sign up front said to do. It was quite a few minutes before we were greated, but at a small local place that's normal. When the coffee that we ordered came I requested some cutlery (needed a spoon to stir in the cream) the waitress was confused by the word and I clarified what I meant. No big deal I thought, regional expressions vary from place to place. After she left I could see and hear her making fun of me with the other waitress. I thought that was rude, but shrugged it off as some old timers joking around. She eventually brought the silverware and I asked for a cup of water. When we ordered our food I got the country breakfast, the waitress rolled her eyes when I said I'd prefer not to order meat with it. I also ordered a cinnomen roll and asked for a glass of water....again. When our food came no cinnomen roll, and the waitress dumped the food on our table and walked away before I could say anything. She eventually came back around and I reordered my cinnomen roll and for a third time asked for water. The waitress again, rolled her eyes at me. When my cinnomen roll came I again asked for water and she rolled her eyes at me I never got a glass of water. This has to he of the wierdest waitress experiences I've ever had. The only reason for the two stars was the food was pretty good diner food and the prices were excellent. The kitchen staff were great. I don't think we will be coming back next time we visit though, there are other diners with good food and friendlier staff. It's a shame though because this place was super near where...
Read moreLet me start by saying that the only reason I'm posting a one-star review is because the service was terrible. The food was amazing, and the value was great for the money. But the waitress started off by bringing my husband the wrong beverage. Once we ordered, the food came quickly, but she brought ketchup to the table instead of the requested Mayo. The only time she came back to our table was a couple of minutes after the food came, when she brought the check and was gone before we could even tell her how the food was. She subsequently passed our table twice soon after - both times I tried to wave her down so I could get a refill of my coffee (the first cup was only half full) but I was unsuccessful. After that, we observed her chatting with other employees in the back, and then standing idly behind the diner counter directly behind us, but in over ten minutes we failed to get her attention, and meanwhile the friendly brunette who eventually cashed us out was dilligently working her side of the restaurant. Eventually we gave up, paid for our food and left. I understand that servers have a rough job and I'm usually very sympathetic to that, but considering she didn't even give us a chance to let her know avout the beverage and that she brought ketchup instead of mayo, I'm making an exception this time.
We both love Papa's Cafe, the owner's other diner... I guess we'll just go there...
Read moreI met up with a few friends for brunch here. The place is small and felt a bit hole-in-the-wall, but sure enough it did not disappoint. The food was delicious! I ordered one of the specials: the Tex Mex scramble and it was very very good! It was also a generous serving size for what I paid; I could have cleaned my plate and been stuffed but instead I had a little left over and was still very satisfied. Most of the table finished their plates (omelettes were popular) but everyone left full. I would definitely recommend this place if you're looking for a good breakfast value and laid back atmosphere. We went around 10 on a Sunday and it was fairly busy, not sure if there was a wait because we got there later than the rest of our group. My only complaints would be that the table was a bit small and tight (to be fair the plates were very large) and the waitress stopped refilling water after she'd cleared the plates even though we were lingering and finishing our coffee (although that may have been a strategy to keep...
