These 5 stars go towards the doctors and staff that deserve recognition for their exceptional & exemplary work. My aunt was staying in this facility after suffering from a stroke/brain aneurysm and she has had a great recovery so far. I would like to start by mentioning her doctor, Dr. Hourani, who helped her start breathing on her own again. He started weaning her off the ventilator and now she is breathing on her own. I appreciate that he checked in on her everyday and answered all the questions that we had. He was patient with the process yet he met the end goal. He is a great doctor, thank you! Next I would like to highlight Flor, the patient advocate. She was really helpful, if I was ever concerned or had any questions she was there within minutes if she was available. Next are two CNA's that do more than the bare minimum, Onita and Dinorah (I believe that is her name). I wanted to clean up/wash up my aunt but since I don't know the proper technique they took over and did a deep clean/shower instead of just changing her. I appreciate that Onita said it doesn't matter who or what, every patient deserves to be treated with care. They really care about their patients and I know my aunt appreciates it as well. Next I would like to highlight Alla. She is a very dedicated RN and I know she doesn't skip anything. She triple checks the IV, the medicine, she explains everything in full detail and I felt at ease when she was my aunts RN. She is always on the go ensuring all her patients get what they need. I see you girl! Next is Sofia, she is one of the sweetest RN at the facility and her kindness translates into her work. She even stops by to say hi when she is not my aunts RN for the day. I also appreciate seeing the friendly faces of Britney, Jeffrey, and Sierra. They are extremely kind and a light in this facility. Through all the chaos and emotions its nice to feel grounded by people who care for you and your family. Next I'd like to highlight some of the Rehab/PT team. Manny is a kind, patient, sweet individual that made my aunt smile which was comforting. Michael always had an encouraging voice, Kavin and Jason also made her smile while helping her gain her strength back. They all helped with re-training her muscle memory which is important to get her back on her feet. Next is Tim from RT, my family appreciates how consistent he was in checking in with her. I know there's a couple of other people who have been very helpful and warm, I'm sorry for forgetting their names! I appreciate you all.
Also, there were people who were rude and cold. I believe anywhere you go you will meet good and bad nurses, good and bad staff, etc. There were two nurses that were horrible. I forgot their names but one of them was telling Dinora that she refuses to help her clean patients. I understand nurses have a lot to do but it is very unprofessional to express yourself with disgust in front of the patients. I also asked another nurse if she can do me the favor to help me lift my aunt up because she was sliding down the bed and she didn't want to help, she said I can take it up with my aunt's nurse. I was asking for a favor that would take max 5 seconds. She ended up coming back to help me since it was pretty ridiculous to have to call a nurse to do something anyone can do in 5 seconds. She then said on 3, and started moving my aunt on 2. Even the doctor said woah that was like 2 1/2. That's very dangerous for any patient. If she passed by my aunt and saw how uncomfortable she looked, then had a family member of the patient ask for help and still deny a patient a little bit of attention, wow. That speaks volumes to the kind of nurse she is. I don't remember their names but if they see this they'll know who they are. I hope they observe the nurses that are wonderful and learn a thing or two. And remember, the energy you put into your craft/the world comes back to you tenfold.
Overall, this facility just needs more funding. They have amazing staff who make it work, but with more resources they would be able to excel....

My wife spent six months in Kindred after a ruptured sub arachnoid brain aneurysm. We were referred to Kindred by Cedars Sinai, where she spent three and a half weeks in an induced coma. Cedars was at pains to explain to us ahead of time that Kindred was not Cedars and that we should not set our expectations too high. We went to visit and we were not put off at all. The environment is clean. Mostly shared rooms, and the staff are always busy at work.
I want to say how impressed I have been with Kindred, and how grateful I am to all the staff there. They brought my wife back and helped her on her road back to recovery. Kindred is special place. I do believe the staff there take pride in their work. As always the atmosphere starts at the top. Philip is the CEO and he is ever present around the hospital. His door was always open to me. The doctors Kate had were fantastic. Starting with the attending physician Dr. Hourani. He is a pulmonologist, which is what you need when you are on a ventilator. He was awesome. I will never forget the look on his face when he told me that he thought Kate was waking up from her coma. He was beaming. He inspired a lot of confidence in Kate and me and clearly had full control of his team. We also had a great Neurologist, Dr. Giombetti, who identified Kate’s Hydrocephalus and I want to commend him as well on his ability to keep me calm in the face of some pretty challenging issues. I realize you want confident physicians around you. They have seen it all before!
It’s not just the doctors. Everyone Kate and I came across at Kindred was so kind. After six months, I believe we met just about every RN, LVN and CNA that worked there. From Barb, the first person I met at the central nursing station, to Tiffany, the patient advocate, all the nurses (Daniel, Windy, Nadine, Latasha, Libertad, Lana, Maria, Adrian, Katina, Brenda, Francine, Wendy, Cheryl, Melody, Towanna, Teresa, Annalisa, Vesha, Helen, Lisette, Albert, Juhee, Terri, Judith), all the RT staff (Suren, Adam, Kamil, Tristian, Vladi, Annie) who I had less and less interaction with as Kate came off the ventilator and finally got rid of her Tracheotomy. You were so caring, without fail. Kate loved all the staff. They were so nice to her it amazes me. They work so hard. On their feet for 12 hours a day. Such physical work. They always went out of their way and never showed any impatience, even when Kate had to be changed so constantly. They deserve respect and courtesy. I think you are all miracle workers and we so look forward to coming back to see you again together, with Kate hopefully on her feet. She will love to see you again. Sorry if I forgot to mention your name. You know who you are and thank you for being so kind.
Thank you to the nutritionist, Mary, and her team. You guys were so helpful and flexible with our needs. You rock. And thank you of course to the therapy team, lead by Scott. You have kick started Kate’s route back to physical independence. Lana, Shannon, Liah, Lea, Christine. You are all brilliant. Thank you to Grace and Sandra, who helped Kate in and out of the famous “chair”. It got her outside. A little window into the wider world after her trauma. You were so patient with her. Thank you.
Thank you to all of the staff collectively. We went through a lot of ups and downs and I feel like we became family. We are so grateful to you for bringing Kate back. Everything else will be icing on the cake. You made me feel like there was always hope. You were so nice to all of Kate’s friends and family. I am in awe of you all. Keep up the good work. I know it’s hard with all the pressures from all sides. In the end, it’s the humanity of the place that distinguishes it.
I recommend them highly. You get what you put into it. Be respectful and thoughtful to the staff and they will repay you in spades. They are good people. Not once did I see them disrespect a patient or a family member. Donuts help as well!!

My family and I would like to thank you for all your hard work that you provided to our sister as well as to your other patients. You were to my sister, the greatest doctor a person could ask for. You treated her with respect, not as number, but as a human being with feelings and value. You did your utmost and kept her going for many years no matter where she was. When doctors at other facilities wrote her off you never gave up on her. You proved them wrong and she was able to live on. You took those other doctors’ mistakes and you were able to correct their mistakes, as difficult as it was. Unfortunately, due to other mistakes after we left your care, we had to return back to Kindred and once again you corrected those mistakes - we were able to move on.
You are one of the most honest, knowledgeable, trustworthy, loyal, compassionate, dedicated and effective doctors that I have ever seen. You treated my sister, as you do with all your patients, with dignity and professionalism. You are able to dignify your patients with comprehensive knowledge and provide them with the tools necessary to make informed decisions. You provide for your patients in a timely matter in order for them to get the treatment they need. This is fundamental to whom you are and we appreciate your thoroughness and diligence.
You respect your patient even if they are unable to verbally communicate. You queue in to their behavior, their pain, their facial reaction and you listen to their families to make sure they get the right treatments. Your inspiration, your loyalty and dedication shows in your work with each of your patient.
As a chief of staff you helped your team reach for higher standards and you stand resolute to make sure your team do their best for patients in a fashion is non-judgmental and caring. The dedication you have to patients goes further than you own conscientiousness; you were able to assign other outstanding doctors and other specialist to be part of your patients’ teams in order to give the most excellent services possible. You supervise that team and lead the team. You review each of their protocols and collaborate with them to make sure your patient gets the best effective care that will meet their particular needs.
We as a family could not have asked for a better doctor for our dear beloved late sister that we loved and cherished very much. You treated us as a family - with kindness and gentle hands; you have a kind heart and a gentle demeanor that shows dedication to each of your patients. You always give 100% of yourself in order for patients to get the best services they need, no matter how complicated or complex your patient case is. We could have done this without you.
Thank you for giving us extra years with our sister, so we could sing to her, pray with her and spend quality time with her.
We also would like to thank each of the doctors and other specialists who worked with our dearly beloved sister. We thank each and every one of them for their hard work and their expertise.
Sincerely,
Channah Shraga, Rachel...
