Unfortunate Experience on TikTok Live: Harassment and Unfair Ban
As an avid user of TikTok, I have enjoyed exploring the platform's creative content and engaging with a diverse community. However, my recent experience with TikTok Live left me disappointed and frustrated due to the lack of effective moderation and an unfair ban.
I recently went live on TikTok to promote my new song, intending to connect with my followers and share my passion for music. Unfortunately, during the live session, I encountered a barrage of offensive comments and harassment from certain users. This behavior was not only hurtful but also disruptive to the intended purpose of the live session.
Feeling the need to defend myself against the offensive remarks, I responded to one comment in an attempt to address the issue. However, instead of providing a safe environment for users, TikTok's response was swift and severe. I was immediately banned and reported, without any consideration for the context or the fact that I was merely standing up against harassment.
This unjust ban not only resulted in the abrupt termination of my live session but also meant that I lost the money I had paid for the live promotion. This financial loss adds insult to injury, as I had invested in TikTok's paid services with the expectation of a fair and supportive platform.
While TikTok has been praised for its entertainment value and viral trends, this incident has revealed a concerning flaw in its moderation system. The platform's failure to address harassment effectively and the disproportionate response in banning users undermines the sense of safety and fairness that should be the cornerstone of any social media platform.
To improve the overall user experience, TikTok needs to prioritize developing more robust and efficient moderation mechanisms. Implementing stricter measures against harassers and providing clearer guidelines for user conduct would be a step in the right direction. Additionally, the platform should ensure that bans and penalties are proportionate and take into account the context of the situation.
While I acknowledge that TikTok has its merits and countless users have positive experiences, it is disheartening to encounter such inadequate support when faced with harassment. As an artist trying to promote my work, I expected better from a platform as popular as TikTok.

From the moment I started using this app 2 years ago just about, I had favorites and favorite categories. I could save videos into separate folders. Then my phone crashed and I had to get a new phone. As soon as I did that and I hooked up all my apps for some reason I only had a favorite button and all of my favorites that were prior saved into categories we're now all intermixed. Which basically made the entire app unenjoyable for me. I didn't use it for a few weeks. I looked up every possible solution and conversation online regarding this issue and reached out to TikTok every single possible way available multitudes of times. Like once a day at least. With zero response. I even tried to uninstall the app and reinstall it three different times to no avail. The phone that I had gotten malfunctioned and I had to swap it for a replacement. When I did that and set up the device all of a sudden my favorites folders existed again. So I used the app yet again. About 3 or 4 months later not only were my categories taken from me but my favorites button was removed all together. There was no button for me to even select my favorites. I could save videos to favorites and even put them in categories that I had pre-saved but there was no way for me to access my favorites at all or the categories. This app is absolutely ridiculous. It came and was not what i had purchased and wanted immediately to return then! But returning things with tik tok is a seemingly impossible task! You prompt for customer service and it transfers you to the shopping catalog, without going to customer service! Over and over again I tried to get through to get an authorization but was just frustrated beyond comprehension! If buying was as hard as they have rigged returns they woukd have been out of business a long time ago! I even scrolled to the bottom to use contact us or customer service and before I could touch a button it returned to shopping, for my convenience, I'm sure! If you see what you want from a tik tok vendor just say No!, and move on! UPDATE 9/9/25:So it woukd appear that you have to be signed into the TikTok app to even have a chance at returning something, but didnt need the app to buy something! This just frosts me!
