I'm not sure what we did upon entering the facility but the rather large brunette male seemed very unhappy that we were there. I paid and asked about the snack bar and he pointed to it behind him. I brought my girls plus they each invited a friend, so they all picked out 2 snacks a piece. We waited almost 10 minutes before I went back to the male at the counter to ask if they had anyone for the snack bar, he looked at me, said "Oh well it's me and I'm busy". I asked him if anyone else could help us and he ignored me the first 2 times I asked and then I asked a 3rd time when a head lifeguard came out and was even more dismissive and uninterested in helping me. I asked him if they were understaffed or just unhappy because this was the first visit for us and if they needed me to call or speak to management about everything I would. He abruptly changed his attitude and helped us pay for our snacks. What a creepy vibe these guys were giving off.
After getting changed and into the swim area, I would say maybe 10 minutes later a woman approached me, claiming to be the activities or facilities manager who also gave off the creepiest vibe as well. She had the most hostile and suspicious look in her eyes and I told her I was just getting online to leave a review about this creepy experience, because it made me e uncomfortable and I wouldn't be coming back. I asked her what the issue was to be so unpleasant to us, did we offend them in some way? Was it because we're from Salem?
I told her that I've never experienced this in other swimming facilities and that I'll remember to not come back. She changed her energy suddenly after I mentioned contacting the city about it because something is OFF about that place.
They don't want little girls changing in bathroom...
Read moreOverall our experience was great as usual. We brought our 2 kids and their friends, ages ranging from 7-10. All the kids are avid swimmers. Our daughter really wanted to go down the slide, but a lifeguard had said she was too short and did not reach the required height. Only solution was a swim test in the deeper pool, which requires you to swim from the diving board to the other end. Which in my opinion is hypocritical that they use a height of a bar to determine whether a child can swim or not. Though previous visits she has been able to go down the slide with no concerns of her height. We accepted the answer and she continued to swim in the kids area. We watched our older son go down a few times and noticed multiple other kids our daughters height or under going down. A shift change was made and we decided to send her up for a second opinion, where two lifeguards were at the slide and allowed our daughter to go down. We then noticed the previous lifeguard coming back from break was singling out our daughter to the lead lifeguard as if she didn’t watch her go down the slide multiple times and able to swim to the stairs like everyone else.
We love this facility and enjoy the convenience of having one so close. But it is very hard to enjoy your time and making sure your kids are having fun when they are being singled out. I feel it needed to be mentioned so that the lifeguards can treat children more fairly when it comes to “requirements” for the activities they have.
UPDATE: We decided to check with another guard after another shift change, and had our daughter stand where they measure and she was given the okay to go down. Very disappointed in the lifeguard that singled her out today and scared her from something she enjoys doing...
Read moreNice facility with great pricing for general admission. My first experience there was for my daughter's birthday. Which is what this review is based on. I paid for the big package for 8 kids & 2 adults. When we arrived the gentleman behind the counter just pointed us to and said "one of those two rooms is yours".
There was no communication or check in, 30 minutes later he came in with the pizza on plates; I happened to find the ice cream cups in the mini fridge putting something away to keep cool. We had to go ask for utensils and napkins because the advertisement states "you bring the guests and cake, we do the rest"; however they did not provide utensils for cutting or serving a cake and were not thrilled to give us plates and forks for the 8 kids to eat said cake/ice cream.
The advertisement says 1 hour, so we cleared out and moved to the general tables, but there was no support to clarify or assist the part like we thought there would be, is it truly an hour in the room or is it two? Their advertisement vs delivery is vastly different and not at all what we were expecting. Maybe it was an off day?
I won't be doing a party there like that again; I will likely just have a general pool day and then go get ice cream after or something. Not worth the $280 I paid for the...
